Grafted In – To The Israel of God (Part 2)
ABOUT THIS TEACHING
Part 2 develops the speaker’s argument that Gentiles are grafted into Israel’s covenant story rather than replacing Israel. He begins with Isaiah 56 and Exodus 12, emphasizing that foreigners could join God’s people and that covenant life involved allegiance to His ways. He contrasts the Hebrew idea of returning (shuv) with the Greek idea of changing one’s mind (metanoeō) as an illustration of repentance for Israelites and Gentiles. Turning to Genesis 48, Jeremiah 31, and Romans 9–11, he connects Ephraim, the nations, partial blindness, the elect, and the fullness of the Gentiles. The speaker interprets Paul’s olive-tree image as an invitation to stand by faith expressed in obedience, while warning Gentile believers against pride. He argues that Israel has not been rejected and discusses a future restoration and removal of blindness. The presentation includes audience questions about discipleship, repentance, baptism, spiritual growth, and the relationship between faith and obedience. Historical, linguistic, and prophetic conclusions in the Teaching are the speaker’s interpretations.

TEACHING TRANSCRIPT
Chapter 1: Introduction to theology
okay grafted in the Israel of God part two um if you recall from last week the bulk of our lesson was focused on the origins of replacement theology or supersessionism uh which really had its origins in a bloke named Maran of cop um and if you recall uh Justin Martyr and t tertullian two Church fathers both said that his doctrines his evil had reached the entire world and we took a brief look into how some of his beliefs and teachings still exist in our Christian world today um the least of which is not the fact that our Bibles still say old test Testament and New
Testament uh which was uh terminology that he coined in his effort to show that the old was gone and the new had arrived um so even today 2024 we still see this ghost in the machine this uh haunting if you will of uh marcian in the Christian Faith um this this week we’re going to touch a little bit more
Chapter 2: Gentiles in God’s Israel
on uh Israel and how they are established uh forever and how we as Gentiles for those of us who are Gentiles um are grafted into the green olive tree that is Israel if you remember from the book of Jeremiah uh we looked at last week that God calls Israel a green olive tree and there are branches in this olive tree that are natural that being the house of Israel and the house of Judah and those that are grafted in from a wild Olive shoot and that is the rest of the world the the Gentiles so remembering from last week we looked at this this is
the slide that we ended with so we’re going to start with it here Gentiles were always welcome into God’s Israel but with conditions and we remember this we remember that Isaiah said that even to the unic who keep my sabbaths and choose what pleases me and holds fast my Covenant he will give him a name better than that of sons and daughters he goes on to say that the strangers who join themselves the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord to serve him and to love the name of the Lord to be his servants everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath and holds fast to
his Covenant even they will be brought to the Holy Mountain so Gentiles were always welcome and then we looked at Exodus 12 where it says regardless of whether you are a native born or you are grafted in or joined to to Israel there is one law for both this one verse alone kind of stands in contrast to the general understanding in the Christian world that God somehow did one thing for the Jews or Israel and one thing for the Gentiles that the law was for the Jews and freedom in Christ was for the Gentiles well that’s not true we see that even in under the
old Covenant one law was for both of them so we see that Gentiles could join Israel if they devoted themselves to the ways of the Lord after all they were coming into God’s people his kingdom they were expected to
Chapter 3: The true meaning of repentance
embrace his ways and the question remains isn’t that true today for followers of Christ and of course it is we see throughout the Book of John where Yeshua says if you love me you’ll keep my Commandments the opposite is also true if you don’t obey his Commandments you don’t love him in verse 21 he he who has my 5 minutes Commandments and keeps them is he who loves me and he who loves me Will Be Loved by my father and I will love him and reveal myself to him and then in 15 if you keep my Commandments you will abide in my love just as
I have kept my father’s Commandments and abide in his love as I was going through this and as I was thinking through this I couldn’t help but think of one element of um this teaching uh that is true for both Jew and Gentile one word it’s our all of our favorite word and that is the word repent unfortunately in our culture repentance or the word repent has kind of Taken on a bit of a negative connotation when we think about it yes we know know that repentance brings refreshment but um I don’t know about you but when I think of that word repent based on
how I was taught growing up it always meant that I was a mess and sin and I had to change and it was kind of a negative thing we’re going to see I think something pretty cool here Gentiles were always welcome to change their minds now what does that mean well when you look at the Hebrew word for repent it’s simple it’s Shu and it means to turn back or to return well turn back or return to what well the answer is simple to the husband remember yahovah was Israel’s husband and they were to return to to the husband and to the Covenant the Covenant
that God made between him and his people and this was done even under the old Covenant by faith and this Covenant was made between Israel and God well this is where I think we get to see the wisdom behind why God made sure that the New Testament as we know it was written in Greek and not Hebrew because when you look at the Greek word for repentance or repent uh matano AO it means to change one’s mind or purpose which I think is very interesting interesting because they have to CH turn they have to change one’s mind to what well that’s also to the resurrected
husband that is Christ and to the New Covenant now if you’re following me this is this should this should stand out to you because for the Jew or the Israelite repentance was to turn back to what they already knew they had to turn back to the Covenant for a gentile coming into the fold they weren’t returning to anything because they never knew it they never had it so for them it was a changing ing of their mind it was a changing of their purpose to come into God’s kingdom and embrace his ways over the world’s ways and this was still and is still done by
faith or through faith in the husband in Christ and this Covenant is also made between God and Israel so we’ve talked about this many times before in the past where the New Covenant isn’t made for the Gentile World it isn’t made for the church Jeremiah 31:31 says that it’s made between God and Israel the New Covenant was made by God and Israel and yet Gentiles can still come in to that Covenant 10 minutes becoming Israel by faith so repentance always included a reordering or reentering of one’s heart and mind toward God and his ways a return for the Jew a decision for the Gentile but
the end goal for both was all always the same they were coming back into the Covenant they were returning to the Covenant so how did the cross Chang things for the Gentiles well we have to start way back
Chapter 4: Prophecy and Gentiles
at the prophecy regarding ephran and we recall from our Jacob to Jesus lesson 11 minutes that Ephraim is another name for who and I’m going to be asking some questions so you might unmute yourself because I want you to respond here a bit Ephraim is another name for who Israel Jacob more specifically the house of Israel and they were divorced and cast into what and thus became what Gentiles the were Gentiles the Nations they were cast into the Nations thus becoming Gentiles remember Hosea said they were no longer his people and he was no longer their God that’s another way of saying Gentiles you see
this prophecy for for Ephraim in Genesis 48 where it says he shall also become a of people and he shall also he shall also be great but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he and his descendants ephraim’s descendants shall become a multitude and that word in English is fullness in the Hebrew it’s fullness of Nations which is also Gentiles and the Hebrew so his descendants shall become a fullness of Nations and we’re going to see that phrase over and over again this prophecy to Ephraim helps us understand why Yeshua came when he did did anyone ever wonder why in human history did Yeshua
come when he came why not sooner why not later why at that single moment in time did Yeshua come the first time if we were to divide human history into three sections and for the sake of argument today we are going to divide it into three sections by the way even if you divided it into four or six sections the results would still be the same but for the sake of argument we’re going to divide it into three sections Adam to Noah Abraham to Yeshua and Yeshua to the end the old Covenant would be somewhere around there so to speak um in the middle section
and the New Covenant of course is from when Yeshua came to the end but it’s during this period that’s considered to be the last days and by the way when we hear the words last days sometimes we we think oh that’s a reference to like the last few weeks before Jesus comes back or the last few months or the last few years before Jesus comes back but in biblical terminology the last days began when J when Jesus was resurrected these are the last days of these sections whether they be three or four or five or six sessions these collectively are the last days
Chapter 5: Partial blindness of Israel
and it’s in those last days that this prophecy to Ephraim is going to be fulfilled this fullness of the Gentiles will happen obviously post Resurrection which are in the last days and in the New Covenant we see in Romans 11: 25- 26 Paul says for I do not desire Brethren that you should be ignorant of this mystery lest you should be wise in your own opinion that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in so this isn’t u a very relevant passage because Paul here in this point in time in history is recognizing that this fullness this
prophecy to Ephraim is yet to happen it’s still something in the future but until that happens there will be a partial blindness or stuper if you will given to the people of Israel so regardless of the blindness Israel is not forgotten but in their blind condition become a tool for the Gentiles in Romans 9: 1-5 Paul says I tell the truth in Christ I am not lying my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit but I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart for I could wish that I myself were a curse from Christ for my brethren my countrymen according to
to the flesh that’s very interesting that he makes that designation there my brothers my countrymen according to the Flesh in other words the DNA Israel who are Israelites to whom pertain the adoption the glory the covenants the giving of the law the service of God and the promises of whom are the fathers and from whom according to the flesh Christ came who was overall the eternally blessed God Amen what’s Paul doing here well this is basically a long- winded Pauline way of saying that if he could trade places with Israel he would but of course he can’t we do need 18 minutes to try to
understand a little bit more of what he’s saying here in verses 6-9 he says but it is not that the word of God has taken no effect because they’re blinded if you will because this partial blindness is taken uh hold of Israel by God’s hand it’s not that the word of God has taken no effect for they are not all Israel who are of Israel nor are they all children because they are the Seed of Abraham now I put those two words in there to help us understand they are not all the Israel who are of genetic Israel nor are they all children because they
are the Seed of Abraham now this is one of those challenging scriptures not the one that I alluded to earlier but this is definitely one of those um let me just get some feedback from those of you who are here and and uh get your thoughts on what what is Paul saying here is it is it is it immediately obvious to you or not so much what are your thoughts is he making a distinction between the Gentiles of Israel and Gentiles of us not so much but that’s a good perspective to me it sounds like he’s saying just because you were born an Israelite doesn’t
mean you are okay uh okay Joy says she agrees with neeva anybody else I think that well I don’t know no go ahead to it that the word applies and affects not only those who are genetically part of Israel but also those that are not okay well remember yeshua’s interaction with the Pharisees when he he said they mean the Pharisees answered to him Jesus Abraham is Our Father and Jesus said to them if you were Abraham’s children you would do the works of Abraham now what were the works of Abraham well what’s Abraham why is he the father of the faith because he did he
obeyed with faith he was Faithfully obedient and of course we know that the Pharisees weren’t they were famous for changing God’s word and adding to God’s word so even to these Pharisees who by the way were genetic Israel Jesus is saying not so much so what’s going on here how many have you ever heard the statement that just because I’m standing in a garage doesn’t make me a car and the TR is also the same for uh the Christian world today just because you go to church just because you’re standing in a church doesn’t mean you’re saved doesn’t mean you’re a follower a disciple no
the same is also true for Israel were they genetic Israel yes of course they were standing in the garage they were living in the garage but they weren’t all Israel unless they were Israel by faith you understand understand this they are not all Israel who are of Israel in other words there’s a distinction being made here between those who are Israel by faith and we have many examples of those throughout the scriptures we can talk about a later time and then there was just the rest but in Isaac your seed shall be called that in those th those are the children of the flesh these
are not the children of God but the children of the promise are counted as the seed for This Is The Word of Promise at this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son so so we have to understand that just a few chapters before actually one chapter before Paul says the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly Waits For What the revealing of the sons of God what does that imply that that there’s probably people that we think are the sons of God or or they may think they’re the sons of God that really aren’t but the time will come when the true elect
if you will will be revealed that all creation is eagerly awaiting that moment all the creation is waiting for the Israel the Israel not necessarily the genetic Israel but the Israel to be revealed he goes on to say in verses 30 through 32 what shall we say then that Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness via the law that’s my words have attained to righteousness through faith in Yeshua even the righteousness of Faith but Israel pursuing the law of righteousness the Mosaic law has not attained to the law of righteousness why Paul asks answer because they did not seek it by faith but as it were
by The Works of the law so what’s he saying here they sought their end goal of justification through obedience alone the Mosaic law and in doing so failed to attain that goal because it was not done by faith this was again what the whole book of Job was about job was a righteous man according to the letter of the law he was contemporary of Abraham he knew how to be obedient but he did not know God and at the end of The Book of Job he says I had only heard of you but now my eyes have seen you and at that moment his obedience
joined his faith and that’s really at the end of the day what Paul is talking about here when he’s making these distinctions out of the Cross changed things for the Gentiles Romans 11 and here’s where we’re getting to some of this tough
Chapter 6: Israel is not cast away
stuff I say then has God Cast Away his people certainly not now I could stop right there and teach a six-hour lesson on that one phrase over the weekend I read a uh a blog post by a very popular teacher who was going on and on and on about how Israel is today is no different than any other Nation they’re just they’re just nothing they’ve kind of slipped into Oblivion lost their place in the whole grand scheme of things and yet over and over and over again we see in scripture things like this where God has says certainly not he is not Cast Away his
people for I also am an Israelite of the Seed of Abraham of The Tribe of Benjamin God has not Cast Away his people whom he fornew what’s he saying here Paul uses the fact that he himself is Israel as proof that God has not replaced his people otherwise he would not be being used by the Holy Spirit he himself would be if that were the case we have to look at this blinded and part business what what’s going on in here well again in verse 7 what then Israel has not obtained what it seeks and by the way remember I told you early on the
verse that I spent days trying to figure out this is it what then Israel has not obtained what it seeks but the elect have obtained it and the rest were blinded there it is just just that one verse just as it is written God has given them a spirit of stuper eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear to this very day why did this confuse me for so long because in this verse we seem to have three different entities Israel the elect and the rest and if you know my Jacob to Jesus lesson you know that any mention of
Israel or any mention of the elect in the Bible is always a reference to Israel and yet Paul in the single verse seems to be saying something contrary to that position and I wrestled and I thought and I prayed what’s going on here what are these three seemingly three entities in this verse well till I I share with you what I’ve arrived at I would like to get your thoughts your opinions I I got a question yeah go ahead so in the slide previous to this one you talked about that there’s still a blindness and it wasn’t at the crucifixion at the cross when is
that Veil gonna be lifted oh Glenn you’re halfway there you’re you’re halfway there I’m always half in order for us to understand in order for me to understand what Paul’s saying in this one verse I had to go back back to the stuff that we just looked at and I had to remember that they are not all Israel who are of Israel and Paul says that they didn’t seek it by faith this this one those two verses that we just looked at so this reference to the elect are those within Israel who have obtained their goal through faith and the rest those who had not
were blinded so instead of three entities here they’re all the same they’re all the same entity well they’re all part of Israel they’re not the same entity there that’s what I me the entity being Israel yes they’re all the same Israel there’s the elect and the rest right exactly exactly and the rest were blinded so it seems to me that Paul is now using the word elect postc cross under the New Covenant to define those who are truly the Israel based on the fact of their faith in Yeshua for purposes of justification that’s made up of theer too right Israel is who’s Whispering there go
ahead repeat what he said Christine was saying that the Israel would include also those that have uh joined themselves to Israel the foreigners and the sojourners so not only those that are the SE of Israel if you will but also the rest that have joined themselves to Israel now they’re part of Israel and within them this whole new the Israel the Commonwealth of Israel now there are elect and the rest exactly it’s exactly right now I don’t I mean why did I wrestle with that for so long well I was trying to figure Paul out darn is dirty hide I wish You’ just be simple
and and and talk in terms that we can understand for once um okay so why the temporary partial blinding then no can you go back
Chapter 7: Partial blindness explained
for a second because I because when you presented this the first time I was putting in my head what you the the final conclusion you arrived to is kind of what I was thinking but then I was struggling with the way it was phrased and the way it was phrased and it was saying Israel has not obtain what it it uh what it seeks but the elect have obtain it I thought if you look at a ven diagram that the Israel and the elect were separate because there’s this contrasting thing but the elect because he says but the elect that’s why I was struggling with
is the elect part of Israel or is it separate from Israel that’s well I I think in in context of Romans 11 I think this part of the elect uh is those within Israel who have obtained it by faith because of what because of what he said in Romans nine that verse down below they did not seek it by faith but as it were by The Works of the law well only Jews do that not Gentiles so I think that for purposes of this one verse if you will the elect mentioned here is more than likely those within Israel who came to faith in Christ
under the New Covenant okay I’ve got a question yeah a little confused so we have all one entity but I thought the rest would be those who will be grafted in that’s when their blindness will you are not wrong Glenn the rest were blinded it’s a partial blinding and it’s a temporary blinding that we’re going to get into in a second but you have to remember one thing the Bible does tell us that all Israel will be saved but it also tells us that Yeshua is the gate so if I have faith in Jesus and I obey the law I’m part of the elect correct
so if I’m studying the Bible with somebody that doesn’t know this yet they’re the rest so am I still blinded no okay blinding was for Israel not for gentiles but the rest is not in considered obviously Israel the rest yeah the rest is Israel the rest are is the rest of Israel that did not come to faith in Christ okay I’ll go with that I’m not sure yet but I’m just gonna have to that’s okay maybe by the time we’re done it’ll become clearer to you okay it might help to do some type of a graphical representation with some you know circles stuff but I
love I hear I hear I hear what you’re saying Glenn and I also think that because ahead go ahead um so basically how I’m how I’ve understood it before been talking with you Ed and according to the Bible everybody we know at church in our life I mean our whole life as church so all of our friends who are not obeying God’s law are not part of the elect that’s I would say that’s absolutely correct right and what is so tragic to me about that is that when we study the Bible with people we I mean they fully believe that they are and that to
be when you become a disciple of Jesus that you become part of the elect yeah that’s that’s uh it’s a very prominent belief in in the world it’s a very calvinist position when you read Calvin’s um definition of the word elect it it’s basically that it’s just if you have faith in in Christ um but the elect the elect Among Us in our movement that I’m sorry the people who are not the elect who call themselves disciples but we know according to this scripture they’re not part of the elect um because they weren’t part of Israel they’re not the blinded they’re just the ones that
haven’t responded to yes and no Christine and let me let me explain you’re asking a question that opens up uh a door in this um Arena if you will that um that’s it’s quite honestly I mean
Chapter 8: The cross changed things
there’s been books 600 pages long written about this topic but let me just say this because the house of Israel was cast into the Nations then you can almost look at the world as the house of Israel in its entirety whether they are of Jewish descent or not okay so does that mean that even the the Believers of non-jewish descent are blinded yes I do I believe that to be the case I believe they are as equally blinded we see that already with the examples that you’ve already 39 minutes shared and I believe the reason behind that is found in Romans 9:32 down at the
bottom of the screen it says they had not attained the law of righteousness because they did not seek it by faith but as it were by The Works of the law what’s a better way and I hate to use better because we are talking about Paul here but a more digestible way of saying that we obey the law because of our faith in Yeshua that is why we are able to attain our goal they failed at retaining that goal because they would not do it by Faith they were content on obedience alone does that make sense yes yes okay awesome let’s move on so why
the temporary partial blinding and the emergence of the Israel well
Chapter 9: Salvation comes to Gentiles
Romans 11: 11 through1 15 I say then have they Israel stumbled that they should fall certainly not but through their fall to provoke them to jealousy salvation has come to the Gentiles now if their fall is riches for the world and their failure riches for the Gentiles two ways of saying the same thing how much more their fullness whose fullness Israel’s fullness so the fullness of the Gentiles really can be traced back to Israel’s fullness and I’m going to explain that in a moment I know that sounds crazy but stick with me for I speak to you Gentiles in as much as I am an
apostle to the Gentiles I magnify my Ministry if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them for if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world what will their acceptance be but and my screen is blocking that from me what does it say but a resurrection from the dead life from the dead life from the dead thank you I have a little BL box on my screen okay let’s break this down there is a lot in that one little section of verses there a great amount of stuff through their fall okay two things
happened as a result of their fall one they were provoked to jealousy well how does that happen you might ask and the answer is clear that they would somehow realize what they rejected they would somehow come to the conclusion that they were wrong in rejecting the Messiah that’s how they are provoked to jealousy the second thing would be that salvation would come to the Gentiles now I ask you give me your best shot at defining how does salvation come to the Gentiles as a result of their fall of Israel’s fall remember back in 2003 when this little thing called the Henry Creek letter popped up
in the family of churches and what did it do it caused a firestorm a global firestorm in the ioc churches as a result of that Firestorm the ioc’s global numbers diminished drastically nearly 50% of members of the church left as a result of that letter where did they go well they started popping up in other local churches around around their cities I remember one Church in Phoenix I can’t remember the name of it it’s the one church that my uncle ant go to now Christ Church of the Valley yeah Christ Church of the Valley everybody seemed to go there and that was the case around
the world now I became a Christian in 1988 on the campus at Arizona State and in the three years that I was there I could safely say that I studied the Bible with thousand people if not more we were constantly studying the Bible with people every day and in the course of my studies with these people none of them not a single one of them had ever heard of discipleship I hadn’t when I became a disciple it was new to me and it was new to them nobody had heard about discipleship the way you and I understand discipleship fast forward 10 to 20 years after
that explosion in 2003 now all of a sudden you’re seeing discipleship being talked about with other churches lots of them it’s a common theme now in Christian churches I believe with my whole heart that that was a result of so many thousands of disciples going into these congregations and taking their convictions about discipleship with them in that way God used the ioc to teach the Nations if you will the 46 minutes importance of following Jesus as a disciple of Jesus not just this believer who claimed he had Faith but one who was actually trying to deny themselves daily and follow Jesus in the same way
when Israel was cast into the Nations they took even though she was divorced she took what she knew about God the knowledge of God and his word with her thus spreading the knowledge of his ways among the Nations so very similarly just like the example I used with the ioc in discipleship this is is how salvation came to the Gentiles through the knowledge of the word knowledge of God knowledge of his ways so the filling or the fullness is equal to knowledge of him being embraced by the Gentile world and this is exactly what Daniel said would happen in chapter 12:4 but you Daniel shut
up the words and seal the book this is actually God talking to Daniel seal the book until the time of the end many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall 48 minutes increase so that is why their fall is riches for the world and that there is an ever increasing fullness of Gentiles happening even now this late in the hour now some would argue that the fullness of the Gentiles began shortly after Yeshua was
Chapter 10: Fullness of the Gentiles
resurrected I would argue differently I would argue that this fullness has only started taking place in the last 10 to 20 years when Gentiles are opening their eyes to the full truth of the Gospel not just this watered down believe in Jesus and everything will be fine business but no you need to walk with him you need to walk as he walked you have to be his disciple and obey his word that is why Paul’s Ministry is magnifying because it’s constantly growing after all he the Apostle to the Gentiles and that is why being Cast Away into the Nations is riches for the world before
I move on any thoughts or questions on this I don’t want to get into semantics but that’s okay get into them when you said and this kind of piggyback on what Christine was saying when you said when you studied the Bible and became a Christian that doesn’t mean you’re part of the elect until You’ follow God’s commands so you see what I’m saying that’s a that’s that’s a great question uh Glenn and I’m not sure where I’m at right now I mean know I’m part of the elect could because I am list listen I believe I don’t I don’t want to say in any way
I don’t want to imply in any way that when you became a Christian some 40 years ago however long it was that it was for nothing and that it’s just now that you’re becoming part of the elect no I’m not going to say that for a number of reasons one that we’ve beaten this horse to death we don’t make judgment calls on someone’s Eternal condition right right right right okay that’s the first and foremost thing but two we have to take into consideration that God knows those who are his and he is going to call out of the Nations people that are going to follow
him of course he calls everybody but not everybody listens it’s it’s I I I truly believe that it’s those who hear the voice who have eyes to see and ears to hear that are going to ultimately respond and fully repent now did you repent 40 years ago of course you did you repented based on the things that you knew consider yourself like those Gentiles in Acts 15 where James said listen they need to repent of these four things first because the rest they’re going to learn in time through Moses that’s acts 15:21 you and I are just like those Gentiles we come into the faith
having repented of the things that we knew were wrong sexual immorality pornography drugs you know whatever those big sins are but we didn’t fully repent the day we were baptized our hearts repented but we we didn’t fully understand the scope of how we would change in the course of the following 10 20 30 40 years so that process began at your baptism but it’s not fully grown it’s not fully realized until later in life the more knowledge that you get the more you change the more you grow does that make sense Eddie can I add something yes Glenn the scripture that I think of um
well first of all you know okay John 4:22 um says you Samaritans worship what you do not know we worship what we do know for salvation is from the Jews yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the father in the spirit and in truth for they are the kind of worshippers the father seeks God is spirit and his worshippers must Worship in the spirit and in the truth and I think of ourselves before you know we knew what we know now as the Samaritans that we were worshiping God we were worshiping him but we didn’t fully know
him we didn’t fully we were worshiping him in spirit but not in truth and I believe that now that you know our faith has caused us to seek him like Jeremiah 29 11 says God says when you do that you I will be found and so he’s revealed this to us because of our faith and so now we know and we get to enter into this these true worshippers that Christ is referring to here in John it says and read but for our brothers and sisters who have not obtained this faith yet they don’t have the faith yet to seek they’re still they’re worshiping but
they’re worshiping him in the spirit but not in the truth yeah I could have said that better uh is that do that is that helpful yeah it is and it was actually funny when I had made the statement of having faith yet now following God’s commands Joanne said under her breath oh you’re about 50% getting there amen okay let’s move along uh unbelief versus Faith now this is a little bit of a side road but I thought
Chapter 11: Faith versus unbelief
it was worthy going down because in in verses 19- 24 uh Paul says you will say then branches were broken off who were the branches broken off the house of Israel and some would argue the house of Judah also was broken off because she was cast into Babylon but uh well said because of unbelief they were broken off and you stand by faith so I thought it was important that we highlighted those two words for a moment unbelief and Faith because this is one of those times where it’s important to understand the Hebrew mind it’s important to understand how they thought uh about these words
in the Old Testament the Hebrew word for unbelief or unfaithfulness and I’m getting this thing is blocking my view um is associated with the word Morad it is used to describe a lack of faith trust or Fidelity often in the context of not keeping one’s Covenant or agreement with God so unbelief then is rebellion the word morale is is Rebel so so unbelief is equal to Rebellion we see that in verses like Isaiah 36 where he says what confidence is this in which you trust I I say you speak of having plans and power for war but they are mere words now in whom do
you trust that you Rebel or Rod against me so this verse obviously talking about who they’re putting or what they’re putting their faith in or their trust in if it’s not God it’s Rebellion that stands in contrast to this word that we have all heard Shama Shama o Israel like we see in Deuteronomy 6 shama is the word for here but it goes beyond that shama in the Hebrew mind is actually to hear and obey in the Hebrew mind there was no such thing as just intellectual belief you couldn’t believe in something in the Hebrew mind unless you acted on it they were synonymous and
that’s really what the word shama means because in this verse we see shama o Israel the Lord Our God the Lord is one and here’s what they’re supposed to do as a result of shama as the result of hearing you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind so there was a an attachment if you will to this word hear and and Obey hear and obey what well to love the Lord with your God with all of your heart all of your soul and all of your strength so we see in Romans 1199 19- 24
don’t be hotty but fear for if God did not spare the natural branches he may not spare you either therefore consider the goodness and severity of God on those who fell severity but toward you goodness if conditional if you continue in his goodness otherwise you also be cut off and they also if they continue in their Rebellion which is the lack of belief and the lack of obedience unbelief will be grafted in for God is able to graft them in again for if you were cut out of the Olive Tree which is Wild by Nature the Gentile Wild Olive Tree and were grafted contrary to
Nature into a cultivated olive tree that is the tree of Israel how much more will these the ones who were cut off who are natural branches be grafted into their own Olive Tree so here Paul is drawing a distinction not a distinction but a comparison to unbelief and Faith so what that statement above in Romans 19 should say 1 hour or could say or might say based on an English translation because of their Rebellion they were broken off but you stand by hearing and obeying so it’s important for us as Gentiles to know the Hebrew understanding of this word believe or to stand by faith
it’s not just this intellectual thing like saying I believe in Bigfoot or I believe in UFOs that’s how our culture understands this word believe which is really no different than saying I believe in Jesus no okay your belief has to be matched with action hearing and obeying again a 1 hour, 1 minute side note but I thought it was worthy of taking that little side road so Israel’s Redemption at the last
Chapter 12: Israel’s final redemption
hour and Glenn I think this is going to help you uh with your question earlier for I do not desire Brethren that you should be ignorant of this mystery lest you be wise in your own opinion that blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in and so all Israel will be saved as it is written the deliverer will come out of Zion and he will turn away ungod ungodliness from Jacob for this is my Covenant with them when I take away their sins now when you read that passage and you recall that the New Covenant was made
between God and the United tribes of Israel both the house of Judah and the house of Israel and then you read this last sentence for my Covenant is this when I take away their sins I don’t know about you but I ask myself we we we are under the New Covenant right now but is Israel we are living in the Days of the New Covenant but is Israel living in the Days of the New Covenant well some would say no they’re still stuck in the old Covenant well the old covenant’s gone done there is no such thing as old Covenant anymore it’s it’s it’s history
so they are outside of Covenant period very is no Covenant with which they are under and incidentally When someone tells me you’re trying to put us back under the old Covenant no I’m not there’s no such thing as the old Covenant anymore it’s gone it’s done it’s impossible no man on Earth could possibly resurrect the old Covenant we are under the New Covenant so if Israel is not under the old Covenant and they’re not in the new because that’s through Christ then are they under Covenant at all and the answer of course is no so I bring you back to this diagram that we love
and like David I love my diagrams this helps us to understand something this partial blindness can be argued that it started a lot sooner than the days of Yeshua but we have this partial blindness happening but if you notice the line where the partial blindness comes to an end it’s not quite all the way there to the second coming do you see that over on the right side of your screen it falls short of the second coming why because say here is where Israel will finally come into Covenant Israel finally comes into Covenant the New Covenant during the days of the tribulation just prior to
the second coming of Christ hopefully you all can see that Matthew 23 oh Jerusalem oh Jerusalem the one who kills the prophets and Stones this is Yeshua speaking and Stones those who are sent to her how often I wanted to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings but you were not willing see your house is left you desolate I can hear you guys talking your house is Left To You desolate for I say to you who’s he talking to well if you read it in context he’s talking to the leadership of Israel he’s talking to the Pharisees you shall
see me no more until you say blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord now where have we seen that statement before we s see that statement when Yeshua is ushered into the temple riding on a donkey when the people of Israel not the leadership not the builders but the the people of Israel said hosan hosan blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord prior to that Yeshua says you will see me no more until you say until the leadership says the corporate entity if you will of Israel blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
so this is yet another little clue that gives us a deeper understanding of the timing of his return last week very briefly we talked about another clue being when Israel is surrounded by her enemies well this is another one there’s going to come a time when the leadership or the 1 hour, 7 minutes corporate entity of Israel as a nation acknowledges Yeshua as the Messiah speaking to the men of Judah here in Acts
Chapter 13: Times of restoration
three Peter knows this when he says repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out so the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord and that he may send Jesus Christ well wait a minute this is acts three Jesus was just here but Peter knowing this prophecy about Israel accepting Yeshua tell tells them that if they repented they will be refreshed by the presence of the Lord once again that he may send Jesus Christ which is the second coming who was preached to you before whom Heaven Must receive until the times of restoration of all things which God
has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world be again now we see this theme echoed throughout scripture Hosea 5 for I will be like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the house of Judah I even I will tear them and go away I will I will take them away and no one shall rescue I will return again to my place that’s Yeshua going up into heaven Heaven until they acknowledge their offense then they will seek my face in their Affliction that word for affliction is tribulation then they will seek my face in the tribulation they will
earnestly seek me Jeremiah 30 alas for that day is great so that none is like it and it’s the time of Jacob’s trouble that word again is tribulation but he shall be saved out of it well what does that mean well Jesus taught us what that means in Matthew 24 speaking of the tribulation for there will be Great Tribulation such has not been seen since the beginning of the world until this time no nor ever shall be and unless those days were shortened no flesh would be saved but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened now this verse for many years when I
read it I would I thought that what he was saying was because God loves his people so much he doesn’t want them to suffer he’s going to shorten the days of tribulation but that’s not quite what that means what he’s saying here is because the elect will realize their error the elect will realize Yeshua as the Messiah and earnestly seek his face during their afflictions because of that those days will be shortened it’s a very very important distinction Eddie I have a I have a question yeah I thought from two slides before that the elect were the people that you know were worshiping him in
truth Who who okay well we we identified in that slide that Paul was making an addendum if you will uh to that word because the elect still is Israel the adoption the the covenants the promise all of that was given to them as Paul noted so they are still the elect so we’re talking more abouts so there’s the elect of the elect there’s there’s the elect pool of Israel and then from that though whoever true sons of God yes yeah then that’s the elect of the elect yes and I know it’s difficult to wrap our brains around but okay so the the pool of people
that are left who didn’t become the elect of the elect are the ones that are he’s referring to about the yes are going to cry out for mercy and seek his faith yes okay okay so how unsearchable his ways past
Chapter 14: Unsearchable ways of God
finding out Romans 11 verse eight concerning the gospel they Israel are enemies for your sake why are they enemies for our sake because they reject Yeshua but concerning the election elect they are beloved for the sake of the fathers for the gifts and the calling of God are [Music] irrevocable for as you were once disobedient to God you have now obtained Mercy through their Disobedience even so these also have been disobedient that through the mercy shown you they may also obtain Mercy for God has committed them all to Disobedience that he might have mercy on all oh the depth of the riches both of the
wisdom and knowledge of God how unsearchable get it’s an amazing how his ways past finding out and I and I I I totally agree with Paul here of course because it takes a lot of time for for us to even begin scratching the surface of everything this means but I wanted to take a moment to explain to you what Paul says here when he says the gifts and the calling are irrevocable what does that mean who wants to Define that word for me you can take it back you can’t lose it that’s right can’t change it can’t take it back can’t lose it and before
you move on can you first Define who they are is at the beginning of Romans 11 Israel so here we see he Paul is talking to he’s talking about all of Israel right and he’s saying they are enemies for your sake correct concerning the gospel correct they are enemies for your sake correct because they reject concerning the election the elect that first statement I need to unpack a little bit well in other words their enemies to the gospel so to speak because they reject Yeshua but but even though they do that they are still the elect based on the Promises given to the fathers because
God doesn’t go back on his promises and this is how we’re going to see an amazing thing happen between God and Abraham and why these callings and gifts are irrevocable remember who was Abraham he is the father of the faith and here in Genesis 15 we see something very amazing happening their meaning second then the second statement for as you were once disobedient to God you meaning the elect Israel you have now obtained Mercy through their Disobedience so he’s talking to the men and women who become elect of the elect now you got that wrong there he’s talking about the Gentiles yeah so he’s talking
to when he says for you were once disobedient to God he’s talking to Gentiles part of the he’s talking to people who were the elect who were Israel but have now honored Yeshua as the Messiah no so he’s saying for you were once no no he’s talking to Gentiles he’s talking to converted Gentiles here for you who were once disobedient to God yet now have obtained Mercy through their Disobedience Israel their meanings their Israel’s Disobedience isra’s disob what he explained earlier that through the fall of Israel that the Gentiles were enriched the reason why I’m landing on this is because I Romans 11 is consistently
brought up in conversations when people are defending when people that we know of you know that we’ve been friends with forever are trying to say that you know they’re the elect right they use this passage and so that’s why I was um landing on a little bit oh that’s okay that’s okay well let’s look at Genesis 15 just to understand this irrevocable nature of God’s promises so he God said to Abraham bring me three-year-old heer three-year-old female goat three-year-old Ram turtle dove and young pigeon so imagine this here’s God and talking to Abraham then Abraham brought all these to him and cut them into two
down the middle and placed each piece opposite the other but he did not cut the birds into and when the vultures came down on the carcasses Abraham drove them away now when the sun was going down a deep sleep fell upon Abram and behold horror and great Darkness fell upon him then he said to Abraham know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in the land that is not theirs and will serve them and they will afflict them for 400 years this is a prophecy of Israel in Egypt and also the nation whom they serve I will judge afterward they shall come out with great
possessions and they did Egypt kicked them out and let him take all the gold and all the cattle and all kinds of stuff now as for you Abraham you shall go to your fathers in peace you shall be buried at a good old age but in the fourth generation they’ll return here for the iniquity of the amorites is not yet complete and it came to pass when the sun went down and it was dark that behold there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces now if you were just reading your Bible one day on your own and you came
across this passage you would probably read through this and not even think twice about it you might even look at this and go holy cow I don’t know what that means okay next right we would unless you understood what was going on here well what’s going on here this is what’s called a suarin vassel covenant does anybody know what that means suarin vasal Covenant was very prominent in ancient days and it’s basically a covenant between two kings one Greater King who was the 1 hour, 20 minutes suarin and one lesser King who was the vassel and the idea was you would cut these animals in
half and lay [Music] them facing each other most of the time this was done in some kind of Ravine so the blood could fall down into the crevice of the Ravine and the Kings both of the Kings would walk through that little alley of carcasses with the commitment that if either one of them violated the Covenant what happened to the animals would happen to them so it was a covenant of blood if you will it was was kind of signing a contract in blood saying that if I break this Covenant May what happened to these animals happened to me when Abraham was setting all this
up he knew very well what it was and yet while Abraham slept yehovah walk through it alone he took that Covenant upon himself signing in blood if you will saying if I break this Covenant with Abraham and his descendants may I be split and two and have my blood run down the ravine so this was a covenant that was meant for the two of them but God walked through it alone how do I know it’s God well this Burning torch that passed between those two pieces when you understand your Old Testament you see that God revealed himself in fire over and over and over again
whether it be on the mountain of Si or in the burning bush or the pillar that followed Israel around the desert over and over and over again his presence was revealed in Fire and so this Covenant these promises these callings are [Music] irrevocable because God made this Covenant alone does that make sense I don’t know why the other kings weren’t mentioned that they knew what that meant I mean God pretty much said this is how I feel this is what I’m going to do Abraham know knew it but how come it doesn’t say anything about the other kings knowing that’s what it was out what
other kings are we referring to the two kings walk through the animals together indicting in this case the the Greater King is God the Lesser King is Abraham they’re the only two kings mentioned here so to speak oh he is the father of the faith that makes sense and yes I understand this is dense Christine I understand you just sent me a text saying it’s it’s dense and yes you’re absolutely right entire books have been written about this stuff and there’s no way no possible way I could properly teach you everything you need to understand about this nor sure nor should I because I want
you guys to study it out I want you guys to yeah I mean like I feel like I could take the whole morning just on like two or three of these passages and really fully you know like I’m going back to Romans 11 I like okay concerning the gospel they like okay who’s they but your who’s that concerning election they for the G like even for the gifts you know that there’s so much deep meat there um and would that should also tell you why so many people arrive at their own conclusions yeah because it’s yeah I totally get it it’s just EAS they don’t
marry the Old Testament with the new they don’t look at it as one document they’re looking at it through the lens of their Gentile Christian understanding and it’s behooves us to study these things out when you’re reading your Bibles and this is not this is for all of you when you’re reading your Bibles you come across something that just totally looks wacko there is a reason that it’s there there’s a reason God included that into his word and it’s upon us to seek that out and that’s what we’re doing amen so let’s finish up so we’re going to end
Chapter 15: Holding fast to covenant
this lesson with the last slide being the one that we started with with a few changes Gentiles were always welcome even in the old Covenant they were grafted they were grafted in again Isaiah 56 to the Unix who keep my sabbaths who choose what pleases me to hold fast my Covenant everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath and holds fast my Covenant Exodus that one law would be for both it would be in the New Covenant that God’s promises and the prophecies to the fathers would be fulfilled when Abraham’s descendants would grow like sand on the seashore when Jacob would become many nations and when
Ephraim would become a fullness of Gentiles so all these prophecies about all these men were not to be unwrapped and fulfilled until the last days and in some cases the very last days we Gentiles are grafted into the elect Israel by our faith in Yeshua betrothed to the Risen Christ and just like those in Isaiah are devoted to holding fast to his Covenant which means embracing his ways his ordinances his statutes his laws that’s how we become members of his Covenant any thoughts any questions Joy says we need to do this lesson again I I mean I’m I’m gonna I’m GNA ask you to send
it to me and then I’m G to study it and then I think we should do it again okay add some diagrams add some V di David can you tell David’s the visual I’m just like that I’m very visually stimulated so diagrams are super super helpful for me too too much I mean even that one on Genesis I thought I I thought I understood Romans 11 probably more at the uh you know at the surface shut level and not at the deeper level um and still the the simple shot level is still powerful but you know obviously you want to go deeper and understand a
little bit more and how it connects to other things so appreciate you doing the research together it’s my it’s my goal guys in these lessons to to really give you shot level stuff and I know that even the shot level stuff as you say David is deeper than most people go um My Hope and my desire for anybody that’s here and listens to these lessons is that it would create in you a desire to go holy cow I really need to spend more time un unwrapping the things that I see in my Bible uh especially those things that um initially strike me as confusing or
initially strike me as is odd like that one verse that I mentioned from um Romans 11:7 days I spent days trying to figure that out and there’s been times in my life where I’ve spent years when I started to come to the realization that God’s law never went way that that took me the better part of a year a year and a half Joy says even longer where I was really really wrestling through that stuff and um and that’s what I encourage all of you to do with your own personal Bible study don’t just read things at face value because if you do you end
up making face value conclusions that can often times be wrong so what you said studying and finding all that out I mean Jesus just put it out there when he said I did not come to take away from the law but to add to and and that’s how I always understood that the Old Testament was still in effect because those are God’s laws and that’s what he desires of us amen Joe Eddie we have a oh oh go ahead Christine go ahead Joe no I just was asking if she had questions but if she doesn’t then go ahead and jump in there well David I
don’t have questions per se I just really need to I mean I I I believe what you’re saying I need to really go back over it because this is this is crazy I just feel like I’m you know a baby and I don’t a lot of this stuff is just so new to me oh that’s that’s a good thing though Joe I know don’t don’t let yourself be discouraged by that um be excited by it be excited that you’re uncovering things that have always been there it’s like a reconversion almost yeah yeah yeah I mean I I said to Glenn do I need to get
baptized again you know it’s like gosh I don’t even know where I’m at but but I think I think uh Joe it’s kind of like Ed was alluding earlier and I think that even as disciples and quote unquote in the Yos movement there’s and and it’s a Biblical thing there’s an expectation of continued growth and deepening of your faith and your understanding of and and knowledge of who God is right and uh it’s it’s your uh commitment and conviction about deepening your faith and understanding of God that is you know that is opening up these additional Revelations and stuff like that so you know that’s
just part of the process and I think it just proves that you are truly seeking him and as a result of that he is blessing you with this additional understanding and deepening of of understanding of who he is is and and when I hear those kind of things you know some may get overwhelmed or may get frustrated and I’m just you know uh encouraged and in awe of of how big and how great he is and it just fuels me to want to know more you know I was sharing with Glenn that um when we’ve been uh studying out the festivals and and then participa
ating in them it just uh it’s a very emotional thing for me it makes me feel like I’m a lot closer to 1 hour, 33 minutes God Amen yes you know Joe I also always think that because I’ve often wondered the same thing and our kids have even said are we you know does this mean we our baptism didn’t work and I think just like we see all throughout the Bible you know we meet Jesus alone on different different places in our lives and he determines the amount of faith that we’re going to be given and it’s kind of like when you first meet anybody
for the first time you don’t know them but you can meet them and and like what you see and meet okay that sounds good and you meet them and you decide you want to be friends with them that’s what it was to become a disciple of Jesus we met him we read John we learned he was the word we learned that we needed to be like him and we responded in that with as much as we knew but then he says if you continue to seek me yeah I that’s where you know that’s that’s the the the precipice of do we continue to seek so
that he continues to reveal himself or we don’t seek and we just rely on what that initial meeting and so I don’t think of our baptism as being um invalidated because of our deepening knowledge of Jesus I think it has provided us the door um and I think for those of us who have come to know Yeshua in this way God predetermined um I I truly believe that there are people that are going to become the true worshippers of Jesus as a result of us and are becoming later worshippers of Jesus they’re going to be they’re not going to have to go through that that
even those people aren’t going to know everything like you know like there’s disciples that aren’t going to be converted you know being told you need to honor the Sabbath you need to do the festivals why because we’re learning we’re learning how to teach people truly how to become true worshippers but guaranteed even those new converts are going to learn throughout their lifetime that there’s stuff they needed that they didn’t know amen amen Let’s uh Joe did you want to say something amen okay guys well thanks so much have a great day and um if you want me to send you the slides I will just
shoot me a text yes be reminded and um we’ll see you guys soon thanks DED all right bye bye

QUESTIONS ANSWERED
QUICK ANSWER
The speaker teaches that Gentiles may join God’s covenant people through faith in Yeshua, represented by wild olive branches grafted into Israel’s olive tree. Romans 11 is used to emphasize that God has not rejected Israel, that unbelief can lead to branches being broken off, and that faith must be lived out through obedience.
