Grafted In – To The Israel of God (Part 1)
ABOUT THIS TEACHING
This first installment of Grafted In – To the Israel of God challenges the claim that the Christian church replaced Israel as God’s covenant people. The speaker opens by discussing Luke 21 and cautioning against equating every conflict involving Israel with the final prophetic events. He defines replacement theology or supersessionism, then examines Marcion of Sinope and argues that separating the Gospel from the Hebrew Scriptures has influenced later Christian teaching. Against that separation, the Teaching cites Yeshua’s words about the Law and Prophets, Paul’s defense in Acts, Peter’s warning about misreading Paul, and passages connecting faith with God’s commandments. It then introduces Gentile inclusion as part of God’s purpose from the patriarchs onward, tracing the call of Abraham, Israel’s covenant calling, the olive-tree image, and Israel’s role as a light to the nations. Part 1 concludes with questions and a prayer for those affected by conflict in Israel. The speaker reserves fuller treatment of grafting in for Part 2.

TEACHING TRANSCRIPT
Chapter 1: Biblical perspective on Israel
uh anyways because of the things that are going on in Israel there’s been you know out of the out of the woodwork come all these professionals on Prophecy and all these Talking Heads and I think it’s important that we know what the scripture says in this regard so let’s just start here in Luke 21 Luke 21 this is Yeshua talking and he says something very interesting when you see Jerusalem surrounded by her armies oh sorry now that’s that’s different than what we see going on right now with Hamas as you’ll see here in a moment that right there since 1948
there’s been 15 16 different Wars battles uh with Israel it seems to always be happening in one level or another uh but never have we seen Jerusalem surrounded by her armies on all four sides so that’s a key thing that we need to be looking for uh as it pertains to end time theology because Yeshua says when you see Jerusalem surrounded by her armies then know that its desolation is near and what does its desolation mean well a couple of things one it’s going to be occupied by Gentiles and uh the temple is obviously going to be desolated um then
let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains let those who are in the midst of her depart and let lot let not those who are in the country enter her for these are the days of Vengeance that all things which are written may be fulfilled but woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days for there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people people and they will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away captive into all the nations and Jerusalem will be trampled
by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled and there will be signs in the Sun and in the moon and in the stars and on the earth distress of nations with perplexity the Sea and the waves roaring men’s Hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the Earth for the powers of the heavens will be shaken then they will see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and great Glory now when these things begin to happen look up and lift your heads up because your Redemption draws near so
it’s important that as Believers that we have a proper understanding of of what to expect of of end times Paul says in Thessalonians that he we we should know the times and the season we’re not supposed to know the day nor the hour but the Bible says nothing about not knowing the times or the seasons um even even the the month so to speak the day of the hour not so much but we know that he’s going to come during the Feast of trumpets uh which the most recent Feast of trumpets is just just barely behind us um he also
says here that she’ll be surrounded by her enemies and there’ll be signs in the Sun the moon all kinds of things are going to happen almost all at once and so when we hear of a battle here or a battle there a war there or a war here um we should have the wisdom to know okay these are these are birth pains but they’re they’re not the moment they’re not what we’re looking for um so I wanted to talk about that briefly because there’s a lot of people out there saying oh yeah this is the end and it’s it’s not
uh now could it be next trumpets well yeah of course but there would have to be a lot of prophecies fulfilled in 2024 for it to be um next year we’ll get into more end times theology later but I just wanted to touch and go on this issue before we jump into this lesson very briefly let’s not go down any rabbit holes but any thoughts or questions on this I appreciate you sharing this because it is really easy to um start going down that rabbit hole of of thinking that this is the end times and um it does help to
see what the scriptures say about it okay David any thoughts from you I know you’ve got family there no I think it’s like it was said I think it’s good to see when you know what it will look like when the end times happen obviously as someone who lived in Israel and has family in Israel it is um very challenging uh to live under those kind of ongoing threats and circumstances unfortunately to some extent sometimes you kind of learn to live with it um your heart is hardened become callous to it um callous is not the right word but you
definitely become harded and uh U you just accept that as a way of life U uh but it is I mean when things like this happen I think it just clearly demonstrates um just the the dichotomy between people who you know believe in 6 minutes human in the in in the value of human life versus those who completely discarded and disregard it for their own gain trying to trying to uh wrap it in a um you know in in a um cover of righteousness as if they are following their beliefs and their faith um yet it is you know completely
inhumane and and U moral wrong you know there’s no one in the world that well that’s not true there are many unfortunately you would expect that this would be so obvious and evident to everybody that is completely wrong on whatever level that you would consider yet you still see so many people still uh supporting what is happening there and that’s again very disturbing but it uh I guess it just I guess I consider that one of the signs of us living in a dark and depraved generation have people they’re thinking along those lines um that is uh it’s it’s um
you know kind of brings you it awakens you to where you’re at and what the state of the world is when you hear that kind of stuff yeah well I mean Isaiah prophesied that the time would come when people would call good evil and evil good and I think we’re we’re obviously there but we’re praying for uh your members and others that are there and know that when Yeshua comes he’s going to settle uh everything and uh and we look forward to that time so let’s uh let’s move on here and get started into this lesson called grafted in the
Israel of
Chapter 2: Understanding replacement theory
God part one as I mentioned before this wasn’t supposed to be a two-parter but it ended up being a two-parter because there’s just so much um to talk about here uh more than just the issue of of being grafted in as as Gentiles into the Olive Tree that is Israel but all the all the false Doctrine out there about this too I thought it would good for us to touch on that it’s common misnomer that Gentiles did not or could not be grafted in into Israel until the New Covenant a lot of people have I did even many years ago
believe that um only after the cross were Gentiles allowed to uh be be a part of God’s family uh but that’s not true and we’re going to see that here in in scripture um we we’ve SE it with the sojourners that traveled with uh Israel through the desert we see it with Caleb um who was not in is Israelite 9 minutes Rahab Ruth Uriah non all these people are um mentioned in the bible great stories about them even Hebrews mentions some of them about great people of Faith but they were not native born Israelites and yet they were grafted in
to that family it’s also a grievous error in believing that the New Testament Church somehow replaced Israel these are the the things that we’re going to explore in this part of our discussion today we’re going to get uh a little deeper into it next time but I thought before we got into this we needed to explore where some of these false doctrines come from it’s called replacement theology or supersessionism and basically super
Chapter 3: Origins of anti-Jewish doctrine
secessionism also called replacement theology or fulfillment theology is a Christian theological Doctrine which describes the theological conviction that the Christian church has superseded the nation of Israel assuming their role as God’s covenanted people thus asserting that the New Covenant through Jesus Christ has superseded or replaced the Mosaic covenants exclusive to Jews supersessionist theology also holds that the universal Christian church has succeeded ancient Israel as God’s true Israel and that Christians have succeeded the ancient Israelites as the people of God now first before I go on let me just ask how many of you have heard this how many of you
have believed this how many of you have heard it preached or alluded to um in in the course of your life I have not okay I haven’t either okay is this go ahead I think we we have like it’s the uh the unspoken it’s unspoken but it’s there it’s that that we are the one church we are his people we are period you know whatever it may be um and that ideology implies this um instead of um leaning back on the scriptures that you know we shouldn’t be don’t be don’t be proud or prideful I guess against um don’t don’t
um I I can’t even think of it right now I’m sorry it’ll come to me in a minute but basically as Christians don’t look down on Jews instead we should look up to them as a following in their steps as mentors you know people to help us understand the law so to speak gotcha so you probably haven’t heard the words replacement theology or supersessionism uh or uh what’s the other word word for it uh fulfillment theology you haven’t heard these words from the pull pit no doubt you probably haven’t heard them talked about or or taught about by name I
think what Lori just said is pretty accurate in that you don’t hear this called out by what it is but it’s the remnants of or the the extension of this theology exists in some of the things that you do hear U taught about or or preached um this theology this idea that the Christian church has replaced Israel as God’s true people is as I have said many times his new favorite toy is throughout all throughout the Christian world and it’s very Dee rooted and I’m going to show you that as we move along here but let’s look at a couple
of these things that just jump out of me when I read this this assuming their role as God’s covenanted people when you look at that statement does anything jump out at you a problem just in that statement alone an assumption and it’s not Bible based okay well that’s definitely true but to me I go what does the word covenant mean a promise or contract there you go that’s the word I’m looking for it is a contract now can you show me somewhere in the Bible where God has been breaking contracts is he a contract breaker he’s not no he’s not
so that statement right there by itself makes a person go wait a minute you’re you’re you’re telling me that God breaks contracts okay so that right alone is is weird and then this whole idea that the Mosaic Covenant is exclusive to Jews we’re going to see uh later today and and in part two that that’s just completely false so regarding the breaking of the contract they excuse it by saying that the old contract was superseded by a new and better one which is in the script which is in the Bible but it’s completely misinterpreted taken out of content absolutely and
we’ve covered that in the Jacob of Jesus lesson right what was the problem with the old contract people sin that’s right that’s right sin thank you amen you guys are learning that’s so encouraging that’s awesome um okay so the earliest source
Chapter 4: The role of Marcion of Sinope
of this mentality this theology this ideology this world viw can be traced back to somebody called Martian of cope now we’ve talked about him briefly in previous lessons we’re going to get into him much deeper here in a moment and as we do I want to encourage you as the listener to see if it sounds familiar as it pertains to Christian doctrine he goes way back to 85 ad okay so this guy was first Cent he was a first century uh Theologian if you will um and we’re going to we’re going to see some of that stuff unfold uh the
flagship verse for this Doctrine this idea of replacement theology there’s several but if there is one that’s constantly pointed to by people in the Christian world it’s this one in Matthew 2021 or it says therefore I say to you this is Yeshua speaking the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it so in their eye in their minds this is where Jesus is saying that he’s taking away the Kingdom from Israel and basically giving it to the Gentiles and we’re going to put that to the test to see if that
holds water marcian of cop okay he is the ghost in the machine what is the machine the machine is Christianity and he is the ghost in the machine Martian of cop 85 ad to 160 ad so he’s he was he was back there when everything was beginning was an early Christian Theologian marcian preached that God had sent Jesus Christ who was an entirely new alien god distinct from the Venge God or Demi urge whom had created the world he considered himself a follower of Paul the Apostle whom he believed to have been the only true Apostle of Jesus Christ his
Doctrine is called marcionism marcian published the earliest record of Canaan he was the first person to record Canan of New Testament letters and books early church fathers such as just just martyr Iranian tertullian denounced Martian as a heretic or Antichrist and he was excommunicated by the Church of Rome around 144 he published his own Canon of Christian Sacred Scriptures which contain 10 Pauline Epistles the Pastoral Epistles were not included and the gospel of marcian which historically is claimed to be an edited version of the Gospel of Luke in contrast to other leaders of the nent Christian Church however Marian declared
that Christianity was in complete discon discontinuity with Judaism and entirely opposed to the scriptures of Judaism the centrality of the Pauling Epistles in Marian’s Cannon reflects the fact that marcian considered Paul to be the correct inter interpreter and transmitter of Jesus’s teachings in contrast to the 12 disciples and the early Jerusalem Church in Marian’s view the other apostles were under the opes of the demiurge or his idea of the Old Testament God so right here in this brief description of who Marsen is we can begin to see the seeds of the Christian church today but I want to look at
some of these things individually follower of Paul the Apostle the only true Apostle of Jesus why do you think that was the case why do you think that he thought Paul was the only true Apostle he was the one doing all the teachings he yeah he was the one doing all the teachings but what does the current Christian Church think Paul is that he was probably teaching against the law yes yeah he he he like so many others believed that Paul was teaching against the Old Testament law and that’s why he didn’t include any other Apostolic scriptures in his version
of the Canon and also why he only use the Gospel of Luke many I have a question yeah go ahead I’m sorry to interrupt can you explain to me what it means to be Canon um Canaanite scripture are the letters that are considered to be holy spirit inspired Scriptures it was the selection process by which we have our new testament okay so he chose the Gospel of Luke because Luke is considered by many to be a a non-israelite that’s debatable but that’s probably one of the reasons why he chose the Gospel of Luke and of all the four gospels Luke
is the one that has the fewest mentions of Jewish history and practices and his version of it he took all of those out and comprised of a a bastardized version of the Gospel of Luke in other words he was trying to eliminate any reference to anything Jewish in his version of the Bible and he believed Christianity was opposed to the scriptures of Judaism what’s another way of saying that that the Old Testament is dead right that this new thing this new church was completely opposed to everything in the Hebrew scriptures that was the idea that he was pushing and then
of course Paul to be the correct interpreter and transmitter of Jesus’s teachings and my question is just in this one section alone can you begin to see the ghosts that still exist in Christianity today as a result of this one man teaching now you may be thinking to yourself it’s just one guy that lived you know way back at the beginning how how broad a scope could he really have well that’s a good question and we’re going to get into those details so let’s break this down a little bit more a follower of Paul the
Chapter 5: Refuting false anti-law dogma
Apostle the only true Apostle of Jesus Martian believed that Paul was teaching against the Old Testament laws and thus rejecting what he believed to be quote unquote Jewish teachings like so many evangelicals today Martian believed Paul to be a champion of lawlessness and yet we see in our Bibles acts 25:8 that Paul is on record of saying of himself that neither against the law of the Jews nor against the temple nor against Caesar have I offended anything at all so just that one verse alone challenges Marian’s position on Paul what about Christianity being opposed to the scriptures of Judaism in
the Gospel of Luke marcian had a strong aversion to Jewish influences in 24 minutes Christianity and sought to distance The Faith from its Jewish roots the Gospel of Luke contains fewer references to Jewish Customs laws and prophecies compared to the other gospels making it more suitable for Martian’s purpose of minimizing Jewish connections within the Christian faith and yet we see Jesus himself saying a passage that we’ve studied in great at Great length that he did not come to destroy the law or the prophets but to fulfill them that they’re going to be around until Heaven and Earth pass away so
Martian’s efforts at removing the jewishness of the faith is being contrasted here by yeshua’s own words and what about Paul to be the correct interpreter and transmitter of Jesus’s teachings well we’ve studied this one as well second Peter 3 where Peter tells us that some of the things that Paul teaches are hard to understand and you run the risk of destructing yourself if you will by misinterpreting him down there at the second the last part of that verse it says which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction as they do the rest of the scriptures and one thing
I like to point out I know this is not new to any of you who have been in these classes for any length of time but something new to somebody who may be watching this video later Paul says which untaught and unstable people twist we have to ask the question untaught in what Old Testament scripture yeah because that’s the only scripture they had right in time there there was no new testament all they had was the what we call the Old Testament and so Paul is saying if you’re untaught in the Hebrew scriptures you are now unstable and you’re going
to twist the things that he says to their own destruction as they do the rest of the scriptures and brothers and sisters I’m here to tell you Christianity has done a great deal of that as it pertains to Paul speaking of Martian of cop the early church fathers called him the ravening wolf the filthy swine and the Dreadful blasphemer how much impact did he have Justin Martyr says by 150 ad his heresies had spread to the whole human race so this was not some localized heretic spouting off craziness him and his followers had spread his heresies throughout the entire human
human race tertullian said Marian’s heretical tradition has spilled the whole world so we can see the scope of Martian’s influence tertullian once again the separation of Law and Grace is Martian’s primary concern this is a quote by tonium himself the separation of Law and gospel is the primary and and principal exploit of marcian his disciples cannot deny this which stands as the head of their document by which they are inducted into and confirmed in this heresy for such are Martian anti antithesis or contrary oppositions which are designed to show the conflict and disagreement of the gospel and the law so
that from the diverse of principles between those two documents they may argue further for a diversity of gods and if you recall back in our first slide about marcian he believed in separate gods that Yeshua was somehow a separate God who came to free us from this harsher Gods mandates and Martian’s documents is a reference to his writings he wrote something called the antithesis which specified these conflicts these supposed conflicts between what Yeshua taught and what God taught in the Old Testament now I don’t know about any of you but I’ve heard many people talk about what they believe to
be the quote unquote despair it between the god of the Old Testament and Jesus in their words the god of the Old Testament seems to be full of Wrath whereas the god of the New Testament I.E Jesus is full of mercy and Grace I’ve heard that I’ve heard a lot of people say that important people teachers in the church have said this and that’s more scism that that is traced straight back to his teachings which obviously is the result of a deep misunderstanding of the word of God because after all Yeshua and the father are one I think it goes
a little bit deeper than that I think even the Jews did you know the Bible says the Jews did not recognize him as being basically the God as as John puts it you know he was the light of the world before the before any of this was created there was Jesus and he he was there you know the light testifies to all this and you know I think even even Jewish people at that time of you know Jesus coming didn’t recognize who God was because I think like what Paul was saying they they don’t have a good foundation of the
scriptures of of an accurate picture I think you’re absolutely right here’s Marian’s own words the Jewish Christ was designated by the Creator I.E the Old Testament God everything in Black here is my words to help us understand solely to restore the Jewish people from the diaspora but our Christ in Paul’s writings was commissioned by the good god of the New Testament to liberate all mankind the good God Paul’s Jesus is good toward all men the Creator God of the twel Jesus however promises salvation only to those who are obedient to him legalism the good god of Paul’s Jesus redeems those
who believe in him but he does not judge those who are disobedient to him the Creator God of the of the Old Testament or the twelves Jesus however redeems his faithful and judges and punishes the Sinners the Christ the Creator God represented by the twel Promises to the Jews the restoration of their former condition by return of their land and after death a refuge in Abraham’s bosom in the Underworld H that comes straight from the parable about Lazarus and the rich man our Christ Paul’s Jesus will establish the kingdom of God an eternal and Heavenly possession so we can see
here in Marian’s own words this battle between what he believes to be an old god with his old laws and the new god with his freedom and Grace but that is not what the Bible teaches us in a nutshell Marian’s belief system was Paul was the chief Apostle that Christianity was stinct from and in opposition to Judaism rejected the entire Old Testament the god of the Hebrew Bible was a lesser Demi urge who had created the Earth and whose law the mosaic Covenant represented bare natural Justice like an eye for an eye many teachings of Christ were incompatible with the
actions of yehovah in other words they were not unified ttian claimed that marcian coined the terms for Hebrew versus Christian text in this way Old Testament and New Testament now that’s shocking here tulan is claiming that he coined these terms Old Testament in New Testament specifically in order to draw a contrast between Hebrew and Christian texts which means at this moment you have a Bible you have the remnant of this heretic with you so we can see already just by that one little thing that Martian’s teachings have continued through the centuries and still exists in our nomenclature our words that
we use to describe our Bibles Old Testament New Testament and we say these things without even thinking twice because that’s all we’ve ever known and yet he is the result he is the start he is the beginning of it he created this mentality of old and new because he wanted to separate Christianity from all things Jewish what about Martian’s influence in
Chapter 6: Addressing modern church influence
the church today well we can see it in several places this is from a Blog a Biblical blog where it says conclusively positively and without any doubt the entire law of Moses AK the law of God the Ten Commandments including the Sabbath was abolished passed away and cast out many of you know Charles Stanley a very famous um Pastor on TV who recently passed his son is also a pastor and he’s on record as of the last few years I think this was from a sermon he did just a few years ago where he said first century church leaders unhitch
the church from the world view value system and regulations of the Jewish scriptures Peter James Paul elect to unhitch the Christian faith from their Jewish scriptures and my friends we must as well that that is so blatantly untrue for any true student of the scriptures and yet here we see it here we see marianismo today here’s an image of him teaching that lesson where he made this statement the Old Testament was not the go-to source regarding any behavior for the church which I’m going to refute in this lesson in a moment but I also thought it was it was important
that we look at another quote that’s a little closer to home for all of us this is from Gordon Ferguson the gospel is centered fully in Christ Christ any attempt to add elements not found in the New Testament is an attempt with Satan in the center of it he Satan is fine with Christ plus God is not the rationalizations to include addins quote unquote I’m going to come back to that are many and some of them are persuasive to those who don’t study the Bible in depth and in context as with any false teaching you end up explaining away plain
teaching in order to support false teaching so here our brother Gordon is saying that if you try to add elements to your faith not found in the New Testament Satan is at the center of it what about first John 5 it says when we love God and keep his Commandments for this is the love of God that we keep his Commandments where are the old where the where are the the Commandments found in the Hebrew scriptures and his Commandments are not burdensome so John is challenging both Andy Stanley and Gordon Ferguson when it comes to this m issue we see
in Revelation 14:12 here is the patient of the Saints here are the those who keep the Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus so um Eddie you think it’s because um Jesus went back through like on the sermon of the mount and and touched on how to move things from Stone to heart and so they’re viewing that as like quote the new the new commands of God even though we know God’s commands didn’t change all Jesus did was elaborate on them um I have I have heard it said well Jesus didn’t talk about the Sabbath so we don’t have
to keep the Sabbath but he talked about murdering and he talked about adultery and he talked about all these other things yeah I think you’re exactly right there Lori I think that that’s been um that’s been the overwhelming position of a lot of people it’s not proper ex of Jesus it’s just feeling oriented stuff uh or human logic oriented stuff when people say things like well because Jesus didn’t talk about this that or the other thing that it’s not that important um It’s a Wonderful sounding argument at first until you start putting it to the test because Jesus didn’t talk
about beastiality either and that’s a law okay so if we use that same measure across the board it just doesn’t hold water right so at the end of the day I think people forget maybe intentionally forget or just forget that Yeshua is God In the Flesh they’re no different he didn’t come to teach anything differently than what God taught matter of fact Yeshua is on record is saying I only speak what the father tells me to speak so and just going back to the UN their untaught therefore they’re unstable exactly yeah so here we see this Revelation 14 passage which
uses the word and the Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus and I ask is this an add in with Satan the center no it’s not it looks like Christ plus to me now it’s really not Christ plus it’s more like because Christ we don’t have to add anything to Christ obviously he is everything but we obey because of Christ it’s it’s Christ because or it’s because Christ but I just think it’s important brothers and sisters that we see that this ghost of marcian and his doctrines that spread through the entire human race at the beginning of the first
years of the beginning of the church still exist today in the Christian church yeah and it’s at the heart of replacement theology it’s at the heart of this idea that Christians have placed Israel and it’s blasphemy and that’s why I kind of almost giggle a little bit and my wife gets mad at me when I do this but when I when I read things like what Gordon says here they don’t study the Bible in depth and in context and they explain away plain teaching well I mean it’s it’s it’s the it’s actually the opposite it’s the Christian Church who is
explaining away playing te teaching when Jesus says I didn’t come to abolish the law but to fulfill it they can’t just accept the plain teaching of that verse they have to explain it away to arrive at their Lawless convictions and and so I’m not pointing fingers at anybody I love Gordon he and I go back 35 years it’s my point here is this mentality this marcian mentality has invaded the Christian Church um at a at a very deep level and it’s it’s it’s the responsibility of the student the Seeker to search out the truth of these matters yeah I think
um I’ve been I’ve
Chapter 7: The true meaning of grafting in
been thinking about this or similar to this for the last week or so that when we get to heaven who’s going to be there right it’s not just going to be Christians it’s going to be you know people from Jewish people or I should say Israelites from pre Jesus because Heaven’s not just for Christians Heaven’s also for those who have held the law and who are you know pulled in so it it you know what will the conversations be you know hey so how did you follow God well I just I could do whatever I was free with Jesus what
would the Jewish people say wait a minute I feel like I got the short end of the stick here because I had I had 63 laws I had to follow and you had what two you know love the Lord your God with all your heart mind soul and strength yeah and love your neighbor as yourself those are the only two that you had to do come on yeah well that that’s an interesting perspective as well Chad I I think that’s one thing it’s one thing to remember it’s important to remember that salvation has always been about faith even in the
Old Testament so we don’t want to fall into the Trap of people who say that uh people in in the days before Christ their only way to be saved was by obedience to the law no that’s that’s not true it was still a matter of faith for salvation even uh before Christ but those are points to be those are good good points wanted to go back to uh Andy Stanley’s statement here about the Old Testament not being the go-to source regarding any behavior for the church and just briefly refute that right we see in Acts 15 uh we know this
passage well where James said that these new Gentile converts need needed to abstain from things polluted by Idols sexual immorality from things strangled and from blood all of those things come straight from Leviticus th that is a new testament Apostle commanding Old Testament and I hate using those words because they’re marians but they’re so ingrained in our our mentality that’s hard to get away from but here we have a a new testament apostle commanding Old Testament obedience um for these new Gentiles and then he goes on to say for Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in
every city being read in the synagogues every Sabbath what does this mean again you guys know this but for the sake of those who may be watching later he says for Moses has had people who preach him well why is he referring to Moses he’s basically saying here have them repent of these four glaring issues because they will learn from Moses from the law when they’re in the synagogues every Sabbath so here James is to me James appears to be saying that he expects these new converts to be in the synagogue every Sabbath learning Moses oh because they kept the
Sabbath yeah yeah sorry so here we have just in this one verse of a scripture that refutes Andy Stanley’s position we see it again in Acts 21 these new Jewish converts you see Brothers how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed believed in what in Yeshua and they are all zealous for what for the law so here we see these new Jewish converts who have come to Christ are zealous for the law it’s funny how that verse never makes it into Christian sermons and then we see in Romans 2 verses 13-1 15 not the hearers of the law
are just in the sight of God but the doers of the law will be justified for when Gentiles who do not have the law by Nature do the things in the law these although not having the law are a lot of themselves who show the work of the law written in their hearts so that’s another one of Paul’s famous what in the world verses that you have to really slow down and read carefully but at the end of the day what is he saying he’s saying that the Gentiles show that the law is written on their hearts when they do
the things required by the law that’s basically what he’s saying there and that’s another verse that would refute Andy Stanley’s position that the Old Testament was never used as a any training of any kind for New Testament Believers it’s just patently false so we’ve gotten past marcian uh let’s talk briefly here about being grafted into the Israel of God the inclusion of the Nations or gentiles was always God’s plan from the beginning and some of these things that we’re going to remember we’re going to just kind of briefly go back to Jacob to Jesus just to make sure you all
understand that the promises given to Abraham in Genesis 17 was that he would be responsible for Many Nations he would be the father of many nations his descendants would outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore if you recall he tells Jacob that a a nation in a company of Nations shall come from you he tells ephr the same thing his descendants shall become a
Chapter 8: God’s everlasting covenant
multitude of Nations so here at the very beginning we see God’s plan for the Nations unfold so the fathers of Israel a set aart Nation would somehow become a multitude of Nations that included the Gentiles very very interesting so I wanted to give just a very brief timeline of how God chose His Nation we see in Genesis 11 where the nations of the of the world were formed remember they were all One People speaking one language and the Bible says in Genesis 11 that the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the Earth and they ceased
building the city this was when they were building the Tower of Babylon he confused their one language into 70 different languages and thus the nations were formed from those Nations God chose one man in Genesis 12 where he tells Abraham to get out of your country from your family and from your father’s house incidentally brothers and sisters that is the um the root verse from um Luke 14 25 through 33 we we we know this verse well because we’ve studied it with other people where Yeshua says You must to give up everything talks about hating mother and father and son
and daughter all these this verses that we know well well Jesus didn’t just come up with that um this goes all the way back to the calling of of Abraham when he said get out of your country from your family from your father’s house incidentally again he said the thing same thing to Jacob when he called Jacob then from from um from Abraham he tells uh Jacob that in your seed all the families of the earth so from one nation he chose one man and from one man he would choose a holy nation in Deuteronomy 7 we see for you
speaking to Israel are a holy people to the Lord your God the Lord your God has chosen you for himself special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the Earth the Lord did not set his love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people for you were the least of all peoples but because the lord loves you and because he would keep the oath which he swore to your fathers I highlighted that in Black because that and there’s another verse that refutes this idea of replacement he is going to keep P’s
Oaths the Lord had brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of bondage from the hand of pharaoh king of Egypt Exodus 19:5 we see this now therefore if you’ll indeed invoy my obey my voice and keep my Covenant then you shall be a special treasure to me above all people for all the Earth is mine and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation and this holy nation they were called the people of God they were called The Heirs of the promise the flock of his pasture The Vineyard the
holy nation God’s Own inheritance they were called The Green Olive Tree Jeremiah 11 the Lord called your name Green Olive Tree lovely and of good fruit and they were also called the light for the Nations what does that mean a light for the Nations it’s important that we understand this Isaiah 42:6 I the Lord have called you in righteousness and will hold your hand I will keep you and give you as a c Covenant to the people and as a light to the Gentiles again in chapter 49 I will also give you as a light to the Gentiles that you
should be my salvation to the ends of the Earth how are they a light to the Gentiles let’s have a moment discussion here how is Israel a light to the Nations I think part of that might be because they know the laws of God and can um show that through their life to the Gentiles okay amen I agree anybody else I think because what God’s Miracles parting the Red Sea taking them out of Egypt did you guys hear Joy she said because of the Miracles the way God parted the sea took them out of Egypt kind of an example what
you’re saying yeah yeah I think Angela you kind of nailed it yeah who who was God’s ways given to Israel his law was given to Israel what is his law his law reflects his nature his own character his desires the things he loves and the things he hates these things were given to the people of Israel and so because they were the one nation you know on the planet that had this they would in turn become a light for the Nations Isaiah chapter 60 also the sons of those who Afflicted you shall come bowing to you and all those who
despised you shall fall prostrate at The Souls of your feet and they shall call you the city of the Lord Zion on the Holy One of Israel of the Holy One of Israel again speaking of the people of Israel Zechariah 8 thus says the Lord of hosts in those days what days in this section of Zechariah we’re talking about the end days in those days 10 men from every language of the Nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man saying let us go with you for we have heard that God is with you so this is something that’s going
to happen in the end days those words from Zechariah go back to the idea of Isaiah saying that there are there there are light for the Nations we’ve heard God’s with you we’ve heard you have his ways we’re going to grab your sleeve and follow you my question is are they still a light for the Nations because if we remember replacement theologists believe no they believe that their long gone history just another country no big plans for Israel in the future are they still a light for the Nations well Yeshua thinks so the light of the world in Matthew 5
he called them the light of the world city that is set on a hill that cannot be hidden and they are never forsaken J Jeremiah 31 thus says the Lord who gives you the son for a Life by day the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night who disturbs the sea and its waves War the Lord of hosts is his name if those ordinances depart before me says the Lord then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before me forever thus says the Lord If Heaven above can be measured and the
foundations of the earth searched out beneath I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done says the Lord that’s pretty definitive proof right there that God has no intention of forsaking Israel not now not ever 1 Samuel 12 says for the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake because it has pleased the Lord to make you his people Psalm 94 for the Lord will not cast off his people nor will he forsake his inheritance there are people that are never forsaken so again how does this debunk replacement theology you
can see brothers and sisters it’s just some basic Bible study the one thing that one man says we don’t do we can see the truth but God is not going to forsake Israel he’s not going to replace is a light for the Nations not replaced Matthew 21:43 now let’s look at this uh this one verse remember I told you this was the flagship verse for their position um that I’ll I’ll take the Kingdom from you and give it to another Nation bearing the fruits of okay what what what’s going on here well who is Yeshua speaking to we have to
ask that question first and foremost and when we go up to verse 23 it it becomes clear when he came into the temple the chief priests and the Elders of the people confronted him as he was teaching also see this in verse 45 directly after the moment that Yeshua uttered these words verse 45 says now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard his Parables they perceived that he was speaking of them them not being the nation of Israel but rather the uh the leaders so to speak the priests the Elders of the people yeshua’s words were directed to the chief
priests elders and Pharisees of the people as they were the ones who ruled the people they were in charge as it was why is this important as we read The Parables of Yeshua that precede this statement we get a better picture of what he is saying to whom it is being said and what it mean in verse 33-42 Yeshua tells us the parable of the Vineyard and has some harsh things to say about the vine dressers again we’re talking about the chief priests the Elders of the people Pharisees those who were put in charge Yeshua did not just make this
story up he is teaching them from the book of Isaiah and ultimately makes a statement about them up to this point they had allowed the vineyard to fall into disrepair through their tradition and lawlessness and now these Vine dressers the leadership of Israel were rejecting the son himself as the parable describes in verse 42 Jesus said to them have you never read in the scriptures the stone which the builders rejected has become the Chief Cornerstone who were the builders Peter gives us the answer in his address to the Sanhedrin in Acts 4 when he said rulers of the people and
El Elders of Israel if we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless Man by what means he has been made well let it be known to you all and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom you crucified whom God raised up from the dead by him this man stands here before you whole this is the stone which was rejected by you Builders which has become the Chief Cornerstone so Yeshua is talking here in Matthew 21 he’s not talking about the nation of Israel he’s talking about the
rulers of Israel and this this section I’m reading to you here is all from my book the position of the builders stood in stark contrast to the regular everyday Israelites who were much more inclined to accept Yeshua in the verse leading up to this moment we can see the striking difference in uh verse 8 a very great multitude stood there and said hosana to the son of David blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord so we see a huge difference between the people and the leadership of Israel thus Yeshua was not removing the Kingdom from the
Jewish people and giving it to the Gentiles as replacement theologians would have you believe he he was removing it from the hands of the rulers elders and Pharisees and with it creating a new nation if Yeshua were removing the Kingdom from Israel as so many believe he would be invalidating the Everlasting unilateral Covenant that yehovah made with Abraham nonetheless something new was coming it was indeed a foot what was this nation that Yeshua spoke of in Matthew 21 and who would produce its fruit well we see the answer there in Ephesians 2 where Paul is saying therefore remember that you
once Gentiles In the Flesh who were called the uncircumcision by what is called the circumcision Made In the Flesh by hands that at that time you were without Christ being aliens from this thing called the common wealth of Israel by the way this the first time we see the phrase Commonwealth of Israel really the only time we see this phrase being used in the Hebrew scriptures and the New Covenant scriptures so Paul is saying that there’s something new being created here it’s called The Commonwealth of in Israel strangers from the Covenant of Promise having no hope and without Christ uh
without God in the world but now but now that meaning some something’s different in Christ Jesus who you who are once far off have now been brought near by the blood of Christ so this newly restored nation of Israel would not only include Judah but because of the Cross now included the house of Israel who had been previously divorced by yahovah and cast into the Nations also include the nation the Gentiles themselves thus creating a new nation a new kingdom of priests that was just the beginning of God’s promise to Abraham this the Israel that we’ve spoke of in previous
lessons so God did not take the kingdom away from Israel he took it away from the leadership of Israel who would let it get into disrepair and created a new nation from it the Gentiles were always welcome into Israel but they always had conditions in Isaiah 56 we seeo not let the son of the Foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord speak saying the Lord has utterly separated me from his people nor let the unic say here I am a dry tree for thus says the Lord to the Unix who keep my sabbaths and choose what pleases me and
hold fast to my Covenant even to them I will give in my house and within my walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off so in Isaiah he says that these people can indeed join them himself to the Lord if they obey him and hold fast to his Covenant also the sons of the Foreigner who join themselves to the Lord to serve him and to love the name of the Lord to be his servants everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath and holds
fast my Covenant even them I will bring into my Holy Mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my Altar for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations the Lord God who gathers the outcasts of Israel says yet I will gather to him others besides those who are gathered to him and in Exodus 12 we see that when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the the Lord let all his males be circumcised and let them come near and
keep it and he shall be as a native of the land for no uncircumcised person shall eat it one law shall be for the native born Israelite and for the stranger who dwells among you so here again we see Moses teaching us that Gentiles were always welcome that they would be subject to if you want to use that terminology the one law that governed Israel would also be for them and if they join the Lord they would be considered a native of the land in other words no longer a gentile so a non-israelite Gentile could join Israel but they would
be expected to embrace the ways of the Lord and by doing so were as a native born to God and even better uh that is uh that is part one of uh this lesson the the next part we’re going to get into uh is going to get into the nitty-gritty of how this was
Chapter 9: Concluding prayer and reflection
accomplished in the grafting in U that Paul talks so much about but um I hope uh I hope some of this made sense all good um one comment I don’t if it’s a n nitpicking or not but in one a couple slides before you were talking about God creating a new nation and I think that that potentially plays into this new thing that got created when you’re probably going to talk about it this grafting in you’re grafted in your joining in to God’s chosen people right it’s not separate it’s not a different thing right so yeah just just something that
when you said he created a new nation I think that plays into the uh replacement successionism thing it does it’s it’s just the it’s the terminology that Yeshua uses in Matthew 21 when he says I’m going to take the kingdom of God from you and give it to a Nation bearing the fruits of it now could he have have been referencing a different Nation as we know the word Nation no I don’t think that’s the case I think this new nation so to speak is the the group of people yeah yes the group of people that will you know bear
the fruit of it those that will follow him that’s right that’s exactly right yep yes sir yeah it’s it’s a little ironic the uh the flagship verse that they use Matthew 21 the Maran ISM and if that’s a word and super session sueding sessionm supersessionism and replacement theology that the verse that they use applies to them the Chiefs and the elders that teach this stuff it really has nothing to do with not obeying the law and throwing the law aside it applies to the people that are using this as their own scripture y indeed yeah in the same vein I
mean there’s a lot of other scriptures where where you know and I don’t know if you’ll reference it later on when it says you know I’m going to make a new covenant with the house of Judah and the house of Israel and then he talks about giving the house of Israel he will write the law on their hearts right and it’s like well first of all what is he writing the law which law is that there’s only one law and number two he says he going to do a covenant with Israel so basically they are already if if they claim
that they you know that it’s written on their hearts then they are part of that Israel right yep so they can’t have it and say oh we’re part of Israel but then we don’t have to follow the laws and rules and regulations and God’s Commandments that come with being part of Israel yeah hey Ed it’s Lori hey Lori um now this is coming just from like one conversation I’ve had with there was like two individuals in the conversation but going back to like the scripture in first John where it says um when we love God and keep his commands um
I know grammatically that’s his is referring back to God um but in this conversation I had I was just I’m curious to see if you’ve run acrosses too because his is capitalized um they the people I was spoking speaking to um referred that back to Jesus so when we love God and keep Jesus’s commands is how they were saying it to me um for this um for this is a love of God that we keep Jesus’s commands and his commands buron I’m like yeah but where does Jesus’s commands come from the Ten Commandments is the same Commandments as just moving
it from Stone to heart was kind of my my argument and my stance trying to help them see that I was just curious if you had come across that perspective before because it was capitalized God and capitalized his they weren’t seeing his Commandments were God’s Commandments but Jesus’s Commandments and Jesus’s Commandments aren’t burdensome and that’s why the New Testament supersedes the Old Testament is their argument yeah of course um I yes I’ve come up against that uh more times than I I care to count okay there there’s two problems with this first and foremost Jesus it’s if you look at
the language if you look at that statement in the Greek which is not hard to do if you have a iPhone or an Android that’s not the case uh the antecedent of that command to obey the Commandments is God his is God okay right secondly it’s a fundamental breakdown it’s a fundamental marisic conviction that Jesus and God are two separate entities that’s the root of it okay the root of it is they believe that Jesus came and somehow did something different taught something different is different 1 hour, 16 minutes from God so yeah someone who holds that position it’s really
it’s really not hard to uh refute if you want to pull out all the scriptures that talk about who Jesus is that he is God In the Flesh he is the physical manifestation of God he and the father are one Jesus didn’t speak anything except what God told him to say they so you know you can’t you you either believe in God the Father God the son and God the Holy Spirit or you don’t you know you either believe in what we call the Trinity and I hate that word but you believe in the Triune godhead or you don’t and
you believe that Jesus is someone different Jesus is not going to be disunified with father if he does if he is he’s a false prophet right Yeshua is the word made flesh so if he contradicts the Hebrew scriptures he is contradicting himself okay just tons of stuff that should pop off a person’s head when someone makes these kind of ludicrous statements I hope you have a great rest of your Sabbath day and uh we’ll we’ll get into the meteor parts of this the more instructive parts of this uh next week I just thought it was important that we understood who
Marian was and how much impact he’s had on the Christian faith and how much it stands in contrast or in contradiction to uh the word of God and um if you have any questions shoot me a text or or give me a call um other than that if you guys are done we can could I ask something yes could you or maybe David lift up a prayer for everything that’s happening in Israel right now just very 1 hour, 18 minutes specifically very specifically I would love to and I’d like to ask David to do that if you can father God
in heaven we just come before you before your throne uh in uh prayer and petition specifically for uh the country of Israel the people of Israel and the other people that are being affected by this horrible conf God we just pray that you will protect the innocent God you’ll be with the soldiers as they uh also go in to eradicate the evil in this world God we just pray that uh your hearts uh that you will be with the the families that have lost loved ones God that have murdered innocent children and women and grandparents and and Men uh non-s
soldiers just all the people that were innocently and brutally murdered during this time we pray that you will be with their families uh and you will have compassion on them and you will Comfort them and you will give them strength to deal with the situation there God we just pray that you’ll be with the leaders of uh the countries involved God you’ll give them wisdom in order to handle the situation in a way that brings uh uh about a a quick and Lasting resolution to this conflict God God uh we are so uh we’re mourning the loss of of
all these people God H and we look up to you uh make it clear that it’s only through you and that you are working uh through this we just pray that through these challenging times that people will recognize their need for you and will turn to you God God we thank you for being our God uh we love you and we pray your pray son Jesus name amen amen inally guys Psalms tells us to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem um to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem isn’t just to pray for its daily peace because Israel is the most
contested piece of property on the planet because they are constantly at War somewhere somehow which I believe is Satan to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem is to pray for its salvation is to pray for its ultimate salvation which only Yeshua will provide so do keep them in your prayers and to that end let’s pray um for their for their peace and thus pray for the second coming to hurry love you guys hope to see you soon thank you next week guys thank you
