Being Israel – A Royal Priesthood

ABOUT THIS TEACHING

This Teaching asks what it means to live as Israel, called to be a royal priesthood. Beginning with Exodus 19, the speaker explains Israel’s calling to be a kingdom of priests and draws lessons from the Levites’ response during the golden-calf incident in Exodus 32. He connects their immediate allegiance and action with Yeshua’s call to wholehearted discipleship and James’s instruction to be doers of the Word. The Teaching reviews the Levites’ responsibilities to teach, serve, and facilitate worship, while distinguishing Yeshua as the one mediator between God and humanity. Drawing on 1 Peter 2 and Matthew 28, the speaker identifies proclaiming God’s praises, teaching His ways, and helping others worship as practical responsibilities of believers. He warns against hiding entrusted knowledge through the parable of the talents, then gives examples of patient evangelism, hospitality, and planting or watering seeds of faith. The Teaching includes audience discussion and personal illustrations; its typological and eschatological explanations are presented as the speaker’s interpretations.

Chapter 1: Becoming Israel

and we’ll kick this off here we are at being Israel a royal priesthood if you’ve been following along at all during our discussions and you know the last two have been about becoming Israel and there’s been tons and tons of feedback um on those lessons from around the world uh a lot of people just so grateful to hear a what’s going on in their life and how to understand it and B to realize that they’re not the only one feeling alone feeling a little bit lost feeling a little bit isolated as they have set their minds and their hearts to honoring the fullness of scripture not just the New Testament uh one of the brothers from last week you might remember suggested uh this lesson and I thought it was spirit-led suggestion he suggested that

we actually talk about what it means to be Israel okay we we’ve become Israel or we becoming Israel what does it mean to be Israel in our daily lives in our service and our devotion to Christ and of course when you explore that in the Bible you cannot miss the very reason that God called his people in the first place and that there were to be a royal priesthood and so in this brief lesson um and I say brief because it really could have been 60 slides it could have really been three separate lessons when you really get into this but I wanted to in one uh discussion just talk about some of the two greater things the two greater issues of what it means to be Israel and that lets you guys uh learn

the rest in your own study but let’s jump into this if if we’re going to understand

Chapter 2: The royal priesthood

what it means to be Israel then we kind of have to understand um the the priesthood in general and that priesthood we’re speaking of is the levitical priesthood we see way back in Exodus chapter 19 this is with at the Mount Si when we learned about this whole goal of the fathers for his people Moses went up to God and the Lord called him from the mountain saying thus he shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the children of Israel you have seen what I did to the Egypt Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles wings and brought you to myself now therefore if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my Covenant then you shall be a special treasure to me above all people for all the Earth is mine

and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation these are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel so way back here in the desert way back at Mount Si when God is giving his people his ways and his laws it was his original intent for the people of Israel the to all of them to be an entire Kingdom of priests however as a result of their continued faithlessness and sin he raised up the sons of Levi to be his priesthood now one thing I want to say before we continue on as we’re going through this lesson what I would like for you to do as The Listener or as The Watcher depending on what you’re doing is to be comparing yourself and your life to what

it means to be a priest anything that you see I want you to internalize because when you do then you’ll begin to uh see what it means for you and I now that we are a part of Israel to be a Kingdom of priests so he

Chapter 3: Why Levi was chosen

chose Levi to be his priest and we have to ask the question why why was it Levi well we’re going to see here in Exodus 32 some very good reasons why it was the tribe of Lei Levi that God chose and not Asher or Dan or some other tribe Exodus 32 when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained for Aaron had not restrained them to their shame among their enemies then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp and said whoever is on the Lord’s Side come to me what’s happening here well if you recall this was the golden calf incident Moses goes up to the top of the mountain to spend 40 days with God and while he was gone Aaron had allowed the people to create their own God in his absence they

want that God being a golden calf and it was a pivotal moment in human history it wasn’t just a moment of idolatry this was a pivotable moment in Israel’s history so much so that yehovah is basically laying down the gauntlet by by saying listen you’re either with me or you’re against me whoever is on the Lord’s Side come to me and you can imagine this moment Moses standing with 1.6 million people and yelling this out and the Bible says all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him that’s very interesting of all the tribes it was Levi who did not hesitate to come to Moses imagine the hesitation in the eyes and the hearts of some of the people standing there imagine the internal discussions they may have been having with themselves am I

with him am I on the Lord’s Side after all we’re in the desert we’re kind of out here alone we’re isolated am I really on the Lord’s Side but without hesitation Levi responded and he said to them thus says the Lord God of Israel let every man put his sword on his side and go in and out from entrance to entrance throughout the camp and let every man kill his brother every man His companion and every man his neighbor so the sons of Levi did according to the words of Moses and about 3,000 men of the People Fell that day then Moses said consecrate yourselves today to the Lord speaking to Levi that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day for Every Man Has opposed his son and his brother brother now I

have down there at the bottom this statement there is so much typology in this one section of scripture as it pertains to the royal priesthood that we have to break it down a little bit by bit and again if you’ve been with me for a while you understand typology you understand that in the biblical method of exod Jesus typology is those things of the old that are pointing to the new there is a type of Christ like Moses was a type of Christ well who’s the anti-type it was Christ himself Joseph was a type of Christ Yeshua was the antich anti-type whoops almost almost really said something terrible right there he’s the anti-type there is so much typology in this that we want to break it down and kind of talk about it why Levi

well this statement here whoever is

Chapter 4: Lessons in devotion

on the Lord’s Side come to me Levi gathered themselves to him and like I said before there was no hesitation there was immediate reaction that they were on the Lord’s Side and there’s something to be said about that immediate reaction even for us today a lot of people claim to be in the faith claim to be following Yeshua but sometimes when the rubber hits the road there’s hesitation there’s fear uh there’s a pause there’s internal struggles and yet with Levi there was none remember the typologies I said this happened with Yeshua in Matthew 12 when he said like Moses said he who is not with me is against me and he who does not gather with me scatters abroad now that word gather is going to come into play in the course of this lesson

because after all that was yeshua’s purpose who was he coming to gather well he tells us in Matthew 15 that he came for the lost sheep of the House of Israel alone he came to gather those who were um seeking him and like Moses the typology or the type being Moses’s statement whoever is on the Lord’s Side come to me the antitype was Yeshua saying the very same thing and of course we see in Luke 14 if anyone comes to me and is not hate his father his mother his wife his children his brothers and sisters yes even his own life he cannot be my Disciple This is a um repeat if you will this statement is a repeat of what was happening there in Exodus 32 where the sons of Levi Levi were literally

killing these people who were not willing to be on the Lord’s Side he was removing them from the camps of Israel and Yeshua is saying here in Luke 14 that to follow him you have to have that very same attitude why because which of our family members as much as we love them my father my mother my wife my children my brothers my sisters my own life he’s not talking about extended family members distant cousins and stuff like he’s know he’s talking about those people that are in your life who have the power and the influence to persuade you away from the faith and which of them are equal to Yeshua well the obvious answer is none of course I will not allow my father to get between my my love for the Lord I

will not allow my mother or my wife or my children my brothers no one will will will interfere with my devotion to Christ if they do if they have that influence then yeshua’s makes this emphatic statement that you can’t be his disciple that’s radical but it really isn’t that radical when you understand that Moses did the very same thing with Israel and he says let every man put a sword on what does that make you think of makes you think of Matthew 10 where he says something very similar he didn’t come to bring peace came to bring a sword what’s the sword for well for the very very same reason that Yeshua mentioned in Luke 14 the sword of truth the things that you were following things that you were seeing will set you at

odds with your father daughter mother daughter-in-law mother-in-law will set you at odds with your own household he who loves his father and mother more than me is not worthy of me so my point being here is this is not only why God chose Levi to be his priesthood but there are lessons there for us as we consider our own commitment and Devotion to Christ I remember as a kid being handed these little pamphlets about you know praying Jesus into your heart and coming to Faith and all that kind of stuff of Evangelistic pamphlets that used to float around in the Christian churches back in the day and in the pages of these uh little pamphlets they showed uh people in situations where they were being forced to deny Christ or die forced to deny Christ

or to have someone killed in front of them and it used to terrify me as a kid right of course it would who who wouldn’t be terrified by such a notion well not only has that happened in Biblical history but it’s happening today in many third world countries around the world as we know we see it on the news and sometimes we think we’re shielded from these things by being in the United States of America but there’s going to come a time when that Shield is gone and there’s going to come a time when our faith is truly tested if we live that long to see those days and we like Israel will have those internal struggles and those internal questions and if we do we’re not going to make it we have to be

like Levi who responded without hesitation but back to my story this is why Levi this is why God chose Levi to be a kingdom of priests and then there’s this statement right here in the middle of Exodus 32

Chapter 5: Being doers of the word

that you might just read right past without giving it some consideration Levi was chosen because they did the Sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses and I couldn’t I couldn’t help but think of James 1 a passage that we’ve looked at several times in the course of the last several months uh most recently in my James video but James makes this emphatic statement that we are to be doers of the word and not just hearers only deceiving yourselves and as I was thinking about this passage uh I thought how many times in the course of my life where I might be in an argument or debate with somebody and he or she would look at me and say you’re just deceiving yourself and it used to make me so mad when someone

said that how dare you say I’m deceiving myself and yet James here is saying if we’re not doers of the word like Levi and we’re just hearers then we are indeed deceiving ourself uh Ron did you have something to share in this regard yes I I just have a question you know U Aaron wasn’t considered a Levi was he yes yes he was okay if he was considered a levite and he allowed the people to build that golden calf then and he knew that God well I guess they didn’t know at that point that God had said do not worship me like the pagans worship their Gods is that correct yes okay so that was just something that was put out there and uh because they had lived in Egypt so long right well yeah

I mean this was a major ball being dropped here by Aaron of course because it doesn’t sound like he was following the word If he if he allowed those guys to build that thing and said they were going to worship uh yah that way y That’s right if anyone should have stood up and said something it should have been Aaron for sure and that’s why the scripture records that Aaron allowed this to happen to their shame but anyways thank you uh for that brother won um going back to James chapter 1 if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror for he observes himself goes away and immediately forgets what kind of man he was but he who looks intently

into the perfect law of Liberty and continues in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work this one will be blessed in what he does now we’ve we’ve heard this passage so many times it’s one of those verses that you’ve you’ve heard in sermon after sermon about the importance of actually doing the word the word is a mirror and it shows us what kind of person we are and how we need to adjust our lives to match what we see what we see where what we see in the word of God when we make those adjustments that’s us doing like Levi did according to the word the opposite of this is when we look at the word and we stand In Awe by what we see this is so amazing

yet we walk away forgetting what it told us to do now I want you to know of all my years in the ministry of all my years in studying the Bible with people I can tell you that this forgetfulness is probably the greatest plague of humanity as it pertains to their study of the Bible and I include myself I’m not excluding myself in in that assessment at all too many of us will read something in the scripture and not give it enough time to think how does this change my life or how should I be different based on what I’m reading we get a struck by the wisdom and the beauty of the verses but many fail to apply what they’ve read to themselves and this is precisely why God chose Levi because they actually

did according to the word of Moses and if we’re going to be a kingdom of priests under the New Covenant it must also be said of us that we actually do what we see in the word now some of us might know might not know excuse me EX exactly what that doing looks like and that’s an honest truth well there’s there’s always other people in your life to show you what it looks like how you can do this what does it look like to obey this passage we had a discussion like that just a couple of weeks ago in what it means to obey some of those weird Old Testament uh commands there’s always a way but your our heart should be not just to stand in awe of the word not just to stand

there and look at ourselves in the mirror but to actually do what we see the sons of Levi did and thus were chosen to be priests and here’s just a little thing a little extra thing that I wanted to toss out um uh in this verse here at the at the giving of the law the Bible says 3,000 men of the People Fell that day remember typology typology typology here at the giving of the law as a result of their people’s idolatry 3,000 men lost their lives what does that make you think of remember a couple of weeks ago we talked about actually I think it was last week we talked about what does it mean to study your Bible how how does it what does it look like to search for things with all

of your heart soul strength and mind and we talked about certain ways of doing that well here’s another one of them as you’re reading your Bible and you see 3,000 men died that day where at SI when well this was Pentecost in the festival cycle and at Pentecost at the giving of the law 3,000 men lost their life as a result of idolatry what’s the anti-type acts two when on the day of Pentecost and what happened this was the giving of the Holy Spirit and what happened as a result of the giving of the Holy Spirit 3,000 Souls were added to them that day so just a little bonus there to our discussion to help you understand the typology of this event at the giving of the law at Pentecost due to idolatry 3,000 men

were lost at the giving of the spirit in Acts two at Pentecost 3,000 Souls were

Chapter 6: Role of the priesthood

added okay the role of the priesthood here’s where we start getting into some um rubber meeting the road discussions the sole respon responsibility of the levitical priesthood was to mediate between yah and Israel by offering sacrifices maintaining the Tabernacle later the temple teaching the law they facilitated the people’s worship and access to yah’s presence teaching the law now I wanted to give you some examples of of some of these things in scripture Deuteronomy 33 and of Levi he said they shall teach Jacob your judgments and Israel your law what’s the difference between judgments and law you might be asking well look at who’s being taught what Jacob’s being taught the judgments and Israel’s being taught the law the difference really being here is they were teaching Jacob how to rule they were teaching the elders

how to be leaders so to speak over the people and Israel was learning the law does that mean it Jacob wasn’t learning the law of course not he he was learning how to use the law in his judgments in his decrees of uh things that came up with the people during the time facilitating the people’s worship numbers three the tribe of Levi bring the tribe of Levi near and present them before Aaron and the priest that they may serve him that they shall attend to his needs and the needs of the whole congregation before the Tabernacle of meeting again I want to remind you internalize what we’re reading here apply it to yourself as a member of the royal priesthood under the New Covenant that they may serve that they shall attend to needs and

needs of the whole congregation before the Tabernacle of meeting 1 Chronicles 15 then David spoke to the leaders of the Levites to appoint their Brethren to be the singers accompanied by instruments and music stringed instruments Harps symbols by raising the voice with resounding Joy so the people of Levi were were crucial in facilitating the people’s worship of the Lord and of course facilitating access to yah’s presence 2 Chronicles 30 they stood in their place according to their custom according to the law of Moses the man of God the priests sprinkled the blood received from the hand of the Levites or there were many in the assembly who had not Sanctified themselves therefore the Levites had charge of the slaughter of the Passover Lambs for everyone who was not clean to sanctify them to the Lord

so here we see that these Levites were pivotal in providing access to the Lord for the people now you might be asking yourself how in the world could we as the royal priesthood do that well you’re going to learn here in the course of our lesson all these Services they provided in order to do one thing to mediate between yah and Israel wow under the New Covenant those mediators were replaced by whom yahusha he’s the he’s the one mediator between yah and man that’s right mashiach it’s not Mary it’s mashiach that’s right there is one God and one mediator between God and man the man Christ Jesus Yeshua so if that’s the case how can we be as Peter puts it in 1 Peter 2 a royal priesthood a royal Nation his own special people

if Yeshua is the one mediator if he was the one who replaced all of the work that the Levites did in facilitating the people’s access to the father then what does it mean for us to be a royal priesthood that’s the question of the hour and Peter actually answers that question in the very next sentence we are a chosen generation a royal priesthood a holy nation his own special people that you may do What proclaim the Praises of him who called you out of darkness and into his wonderful light now again student of the Bible you might read this passage and go right past that statement proclaiming the Praises of the father you might have images of people raising their hands and singing songs is that proclaiming the Praises yes of course but in First

Peter he’s connecting this proclamations of the Praises of yah to what it means to be a royal priesthood so if that’s the case we have to ask ourselves the question there must be something more to what it means to proclaim the

Chapter 7: Proclaiming his praises

Praises of him who called us out of darkness and there is of course we know that proclaiming his Praises is the direct result of our gratitude for being called out of dark darkness and that should be the motivation for any of this you shouldn’t be motivated to serve in the capacity of a royal priest for any other reason other than you are grateful for what he has done for you so again the question remains how does proclaiming his Praises fulfill in part the duties of the priesthood why do I say in part of the responsibilities of the priesthood mentioned above which are the only two that we can do teaching the law and facilitating the people’s worship why because you Yeshua is the one mediator and Yeshua is the only one who can provide true

access to the holy of holies so what’s left teaching the law and facilitating the people’s worship so let’s look at teaching the law Matthew 28 at the end of yeshua’s ministry he’s gathered his faithful on the mountain and it says Jesus came to them and spoke to them saying all authority has been given to me in heaven and on Earth go therefore and Make Disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and do what teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and lo I’m with you always what were the things things that Yeshua commanded them well we looked at that didn’t we just a few weeks ago when we studied the fact that Jesus only taught the Torah and

the Old Testament we prove that so teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you would include teaching the law teaching the prophets teaching Psalms teaching Proverbs and of course now we have the inspired letters of the New Testament would also include that but but Yeshua called us to do this in his very last words to his people Paul says in 2 Timothy 2 and the things that you’ve heard me from among many witnesses commit these things to Faithful Men faith ful men who will be able to teach others also like Yeshua to his disciples and the disciples to the world and like Paul to Timothy and Timothy to Faithful Men we must pass on what we have learned Scarlet you wanted to share something yeah when I did a study on worship

that’s totally misunderstood too you got to do the etymology because you’re talking about facilitating worship worship isn’t a song and a dance and let’s get the rock and roll band together and put the big screen on the light show worship means to bend one’s self down in the Old Testament um it’s really kind of how the Muslims do it I mean they kiss the ground they put their nose to the ground butt in the air that’s R bending yourself prostrate before um Yahweh this is the definition of the word worship Y in practical sense it talks about bending your will to his will and walking out the Obedience of the instructions of the Torah so worship you know when you come out of Christianity they do a worship service before the message and it’s always

uh you know break open your Himel or you know start the rock and roll band we’re going to Worship the Lord but the word literally means to bow down or to bend your will to be obedient to another’s will yeah so even worse is really misunderstood that’s all I want to say well thank you Scarlet I appreciate that yes that that’s absolutely true and you kind of stole my thunder a little bit but that’s okay I’ll let you do that it’s not a it’s not a oneman show here I’m glad you shared those things because yes ultimately and I’ll hit this point right here and right now because Scarlet did it so wonderfully um the the the the act of teaching people the ways of the Lord and in helping them understand who it is

they serve and why it is they serve him is actually the act of facilitating a person’s worship when you introduce someone to a King your natural reaction is to do what to bend the knee and to Bow and so by teaching these things to people you are teaching them this worship so thank you for that Scarlet so teaching the law teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you these were yeshua’s final words on Earth the final words of Great Men in the Bible like Jacob Moses Moses David were filled with blessings and promises and often prophetic wisdom these last words carried great meaning for those who were blessed enough to hear them revealing What mattered most to each man in yeshua’s case his heart was for the lost sheep of the House

of Israel whom he came to set free and it’s clear we must seek them out and teach them everything we have learned because we have been entrusted with much and much be expected of us now the following slides are going to challenge you a little bit I want them to challenge us all a little bit because Luke 12 does say everyone to whom much is given from him much will be required and to whom much has been committed of him they will ask the more we have been given a great deal brothers and sisters aside from the wonderful amazing gift of our Salvation we have been given knowledge we have come to understand things about the word of the Lord that I dare say many pastors don’t even understand that’s a huge gift and with

such knowledge we have to be willing to to reconsider yeshua’s last words with a little bit more weight the question is

Chapter 8: Using our talents

how grateful are we for the treasures and Pearls of knowledge and insight we’ve received do any of us here in this group or online truly feel that you’ve earned them and and I know the answer to that question nobody would say well yeah I deserved it of course we don’t we know we don’t deserve them our gratitude is shown by how diligently and passionately we obey yeshua’s final instruction now you may have read the Great Commission a thousand times you may have read yeshua’s words about going and making disciples a thousand times you may not have known how to do that and so like The Ungrateful servant we sat on that Talent We buried it we hid it away until the day comes that I might better understand that we’re going to look at that

verse actually before we do um Ron did you want to say something just had a question uh my understanding is today is yam kapor and uh as yamap or is there a specific way that we are supposed to or things that we’re supposed to practice or not practice today that uh are scriptural yeah well today is a Yom kapor depending on the calendar you’re following some people who are following the Hal calendar today is yam kapor for them and it’s simply a uh the day of fasting afflicting yourselves it’s a day of rest obviously this today it falls on the Shabbat and it’s a day of reflection about your sin and the things that you have been forgiven of uh so that’s what the day of atonement really is it’s um it’s the holiest day

of the year because of those things that have been done for you and for us um but thank you thank you for bringing that up Ron how grateful are we for the treasures and Pearls of NOS we have to be we’ve been given a lot that watch that which we have learned we must pass on we have to Matthew 25 I just referenced this Parable I wanted to talk about it briefly the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man traveling to a far country who called his own servants and delivered his Goods to them to one he gave five talents to another two to another one to each according to his own ability that’s such a huge statement right there yes we’ve been given knowledge but not so much knowledge that we can’t handle it

not so much knowledge that we don’t know what to do with it he’s giving us things like a parent gives his children or her children they have a 2-year-old and a six-year-old and a 12year old the things you’re going to give your two-year-old are not going to be the same as the things you give your 12- yearold because there are two different places in life two different abilities to respond to be responsible and the father is the same he is going to Grant you the insights and the wisdom and the understanding based on your ability to handle it to understand it and to act on it so that’s a huge thing that we have to remember even in this group of 35 or 40 people there are people in this group that are far ahead

in their understanding of things than others are we should never ever stand in Judgment of one another because of the difference remembering that these gifts that we’ve been given are not for us and I’m going to share that here in a moment and he immediately went on a journey then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them and made another five talents and likewise he who had received two two gained two more also but he who had received the one went and dug in the ground and hid his Lord’s money after a long time a lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them and we know as Paul teaches us that there’s going to come a time when the accounts are settled because each man’s work will become clear

on that day the day will declare it in other words there’s going to come a reckoning of how we used the quote unquote talents that we’ve been given the abilities the faith the gifts the wisdom the knowledge that we’ve been given we will have to give an account for someday and we don’t want to be the servant who were was given this one thing and just sat on it and just hid it we see in the following verses then he who had received one Talent came and the one Talent came and said Lord I knew you to be a hard man reaping where you’ve not sown and Gathering where you’ve not scattered seed and I was afraid this was his perspective of his Lord and went and hid your talent in the ground look here

you have what’s yours though on Talent his Lord answered and said you Wicked and lazy servant ooh see that’s the issue right there and that’s hard for us to hear sometimes this is a servant after all consider the parallels he’s not a pagan Gentile the servant of the Lord and Yeshua says you’re you’re lazy that’s harsh that’s hard to hear sometimes but the simple fact remains that that can sometimes be the one thing that keeps us from being a productive part of the royal priesthood we’re just lazy we know those things that we ought to do but we just don’t you knew that I reap where I have not swn and gather where I have not scattered seed so you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers and at my coming I would

have received back my own with interest so take that Talent from him take that gift from him take that Knowledge from him and give it to someone who has 10 or if every to everyone who has more will be given and he will have an abundance but from him who does not have even what he has will be taken away and cast the unprofitable servant into the outer Darkness now this is the one of the three times in Scripture that the phrase outer Darkness exists and we looked at this in our New Jerusalem video what is outer darkness is that hell no it’s not hell outer darkness is when the New Jerusalem was on the planet the Inner Light of the New Jerusalem will be Yeshua himself who gives light to the New Jerusalem there’ll

be no need for a sign or a moon outside the gates is where the rest of the world is Raging for the Millennia that’s called outer darkness and this unprofitable servant this servant of Yeshua who just didn’t do anything with the things he was given or she was given is considered unprofitable and there’s going to be weeping and nashing of teeth well what’s that mean that’s a reference to people who are going to be ticked off and sad ticked off that they weren’t as special to God as they thought they were because they didn’t obey and weeping because of the loss that people will feel they should have paid attention in their liftime they should have heeded the call and they’re going to be outside the gates wanting to be in because they were unprofitable

servants the knowledge that we’ve been given brothers and sisters is not for us and there’s um a trap therein when people say of you oh you’re so wise you’re so knowledgeable there’s a trap for us getting puffed up right Paul said that Paul T taught us that knowledge puffs up we don’t want to be puffed up because the knowledge is not ours the knowledge is his his wisdom and it’s not for us anything that we’ve been given in that regard knowledge wisdom understanding isn’t so that we can set ourselves apart from the rabble of the rest of the church that’s Satan who has that mindset the knowledge that we’ve been given the understanding and the wisdom that we’ve been given is not for me is not for you it’s for you to give away and

to pass down and to teach Proverbs the law the lips of the wise disperse knowledge but the heart of the fool does not do so so you can be so knowledgeable you got oh so much wisdom but if you don’t pass it down proverb says you’re a fool Matthew uh Matthew 5 and the reason for the image on the screen you are the light of the world a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket they don’t hide it they don’t keep it to themselves but they put it on a lampstand it gives light to all who are in the house everyone around around you should have the same understanding that you do because you’re giving it away you’re teaching it

you’re you’re raising people up let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and do what glorify your father in Heaven remember what did Peter say was the purpose of the royal priesthood to declare his Praises how do you declare his Praises by being the light on a hill by sharing the insights and the knowledge that you’ve been given with the people around you the big question is how do we do do

Chapter 9: Evangelism in practice

this and I wanted to talk about this briefly because I know just because I’ve been around a block a few times in my life as a pastor as a evangelist and as a missionary that we can get paralyzed we want to do it it’s our heart to do it man we just don’t know how do we do like the Jehovah’s Witnesses and just go knocking on doors well maybe that’s not wrong but it’s kind of got a stigma in now in the United States evangelism via knocking on doors now I’m going to show you a better way 1 Corinthians 3:5 through eight who then is Paul who was Apollos but ministers through whom you believed that’s that’s a powerful statement right there who was Paul who was Apollos but ministers through whom you believed in

other words they were effective in teaching so much so that the hearers came to Faith because of that through whom you believed as the lord gave to each other I PL Ed Paul says Apollos watered but God gave the increase so neither he who plants is anything nor he who Waters but God who gives the increase now he who plants and he who waters are one and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor so Paul tells us in the matter of evangelism in the matter of teaching the Nations some plant and some water well what does it mean to plant a seed I want to share with you a recent story something that happened to me uh with a couple of people uh very recently couple years back now it’s

been we were doing our teaching on this stuff and an old friend of mine from years back an old best friend he and his wife heard that I was doing this he was a a member of my old church matter of fact he was one of my key leadership couples underneath me helping me lead the ministry and he heard that I was doing these teachings and he wanted to come along he and his wife one day and excuse me and listen and uh and he did and to say the least he was a bit taking a back and joked even with me that I was teaching that people should obey the law of the Lord and not reject it and you know like he he’s he’s a he’s got a great sense of humor and

he would tease me about it a little bit but something about what he was seeing made him stick around the seed was planted in him and her and because the seed was planted he didn’t just stick around but he started really studying this stuff himself and trying to figure out what was what and now he’s a regular member of our group Glenn and Joanne Garrison they come regularly and he is committed to the ways of the Lord what how did that happen it was just a seed that was planted in our conversation in our spicy talk telling him my life telling him what I’ve learned and now he is obedient another recent story had an old friend of mine come out to my home traveled from California all the way out to Dallas to have

a business meeting with me and in the course of that 3-day trip or two-day trip whatever it was we started talking about Bible thinks he like Glenn was also a longtime member of my old fellowship and always been passionate about his commitment to God and we talked a bit about obeying the Sabbath and obeying the food laws and at that time I could tell that he was listening with respect and honor but I could tell he was a little bit pessimistic about it he wasn’t sure sounded so different from what he had had grown up hearing for so many years but the seed was planted and over the course of the last year that seed has grown so much so that now the man Tim snow who’s in this call is radically and passionately and

with all of his heart seeking these things out how did that happen a seed and maybe somewhere along the way in the last year somebody watered it maybe he looked up another speaker on a certain topic and then in the course of that lesson that he learned he was being watered that seed was being watered and here he is today in this call Se searching for God with all of his heart that’s those are just practicals brothers and sisters of how you can obey the Lord’s final command in Matthew 28 of seeking and saving those who are lost and making disciples with each discussion I have with Tim he’s growing and more and more and he’s coming to a better understanding jtim I don’t know if you want to share anything here if you can

hear me if you’re still here I can’t tell yeah yeah I’m here go ahead yeah well I just I think that um the way that I would resp respond to what you’re saying is the holy spirit is radically coming after each one of us if you hear his voice you know do not Harden your hearts so I think that number one the first thing is I believe that God is Relentless in each one of us on this call and and in the world and our hearers so um I think being patient uh with people is is great continuing to hold out the word of life I think think is really really important I’m eating eating and sleeping this like I probably spend for four to six hours a day like I’ll do whatever it takes

to to do this and and I just I’m I’m asking you know what what does God want for me in my sphere or my geography if you will or my hearers so I’m excited I’m I’m pumped fired up now I’m like I’m like I just studied out that last night Colossians 2 passage that you broke down Ed in that video you know this is exciting amen and I’ve been around for I’ve been a disciple for I’m going to be 37 years and I’m I’m uh so anyway what I’m trying to say is it’s not over till it’s over good old Yogi Bara we need to kind of keep loving on people and like you said fulfill the word of the Lord um by giving it away amen thank you brother yeah planting seeds doesn’t necessarily

mean you have to sit down with the person and open the scriptures yeah that’s helpful you always want to share the Bible anytime you can but planting a seed can be a conversation by just telling somebody what you’re learning in your Bible sharing about some of your new convictions wh what what you don’t eat pork anymore oh no I don’t eat pork anymore why well you if you if you want to know the story I can sit down and tell you bam seed planted now they’re looking at their Bible in an entirely different way telling them how much your life has changed since obeying the fullness of the Lord’s commandments I want you to tell me what you notice we’re going to look at a couple of conversion scriptures here and I want you to

tell me what you notice in these verses after I read them acts 8: 26-30 an angel of the Lord SP spoke to Philip saying arise and go toward the South along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza this is a desert so he arose and went and behold a man of Ethiopia a unic of great Authority Under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians who had charged of all her treasury had come to Jerusalem to worship was returning and sitting in his Chariot he was reading Isaiah the prophet and the spirit said to Phillip go near and overtake this Chariot so Philip ran to him heard him reading the prophet of Isaiah and said do you understand what you’re reading now in the spirit of evangelism in the spirit of planting seeds or watering

seeds or sharing your faith or making disciples as Yeshua said in Matthew 28 tell me what stands out to you in this verse to the spirit okay he heard the voice of the spirit telling him what to do okay he was obedient okay somebody else what what um jumps out at me is that it was all kind of Y set it all up and and Philip was there in the right place at the right time and and it’s about trusting isn’t it and asking you know I guess we ask him to to put people in our path and this is exactly what he’s done he’s put this you this Ethiopian and Philip’s path and he set it all up and then the spirit just at the right time he saw he obviously reading scripture and

says go go and overtake him and you know ask um yeah I see eagerness pH was eager Philip ran to the pro to The Chariot Ed yes I will throw in there that uh Philip was not not an apostle he was not um or ordained he was and yet he was used yep yeah all all very good stuff let’s look at this let me show you what I got here first and foremost as we start the verse off an angel of the Lord spoke to Phillip that’s that’s huge that tells me what it tells me that the the hosts of Heaven are involved in our evangelism they’re nudging they’re pushing they’re thumping you in the ear they’re doing something in the way of getting you to pay attention to that person you’re sitting next to

to that person sitting across the room that you just can’t take your eyes off for some reason little nudges that we get that are telling us open your mouth say something ask a question they’re involved and then the Bible says that the Ethiopian unit was reading Isaiah the prophet how many times have you been on a bus or in a restaurant or in a cafe and you heard somebody talking about something biblical or you saw somebody with their Bible open or their Bible app open maybe they’re sitting by themselves maybe they’re with a couple other people and they’re having a spiritual conversation you we see that all the time how many of us act on that how many of us insert ourselves into that even if it is a little uncomfortable and then it says

the spirit said to Phillip again that nudging that voice in your head that’s telling you do something like the Levites who did according to the words of Moses do something and and then have the courage the boldness when you see someone like that to ask them do you understand what he’s saying if 10 years ago you caught me reading a section of scripture that mentioned the house of Israel and the house of Judah and you asked me do you understand the difference between those two entities I would have said I don’t H opportunity seed planting time so yeah all the things you guys said absolutely right I love the fact that Phillip ran I love the fact that the spirit of God provided the opportunity who knew long before Philip even showed up that there

was a Ethiopian unic who was doing a little seeking and doing a little searching but we have to understand that the hosts of Heaven are Evangelistic that the Holy Spirit spirit is Evangelistic and with us when we’re trying to teach people the ways of the Lord and we know we have to have the confidence the fearlessness the love in our hearts enough to overcome our conflict avoiding nature and ask people do you understand what you’re reading or maybe I see that you’re talking about this subject amongst yourselves do you mind if I offer my thoughts on it just for a second we have to do that if we’re going to be a royal priesthood we’re going to

Chapter 10: Opening hearts

look at another verse Acts 16 on the day uh on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the Riverside again I want you to look at this tell me what you see on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the Riverside where prayer was custom customarily made and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there now a certain woman named Lydia heard us she was a seller of purple from the city of thyra who worshiped God the Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul and when she and her household were baptized she beg us saying if you have judged me faithful to the Lord come to my house and stay so she persuaded us what do you see on the Sabbath okay

on the Sabbath there’s no wrong answers here I just want to try I’m trying to train you guys the Lord opened her heart yeah the Lord opened her heart that’s one of them but I I couldn’t help but notice that here the Bible says they went to a place where prayer was customarily made mean meaning what they wanted to go where the people were they went out that’s right they go out to where the people were and they sat down intentionally and spoke to the women who met there this was an intentional act it could have gone anywhere but instead they went to where people customarily were and what were they doing there they were praying and they intentionally sat down and spoke to the women who met there and then what happened they were

speaking to certain women but a different woman overheard them and Lydia her heart was open did they know that no they just sat down and started talking to some women not knowing that somebody nearby was overhearing this conversation and her heart was open the Lord opened her heart of an overhearer someone who overheard the conversation so not only did they go where people were intentionally they spoke of holy things to the people who were there and other people were listening other people were paying attention and that happens to me all the time when I’m having breakfast with a brother in the morning at a cafe and we’re talking about biblical things or a lesson or that I can’t tell you how many times somebody in the booth behind us or the booth in front of

us or the booth across from us or the waiter or waitress says I couldn’t help but overhear what you guys are talking about could I ask you a question and like Lydia their heart was open and we didn’t know it planting seeds being Fearless in your role as a royal priest in the priesthood and trusting God to open the hearts of the people who may be directly listening to you or indirectly listening to you now I want you to take a look the conversion of Paul with ananas with the Jailer and Paul with Apollos and Aquilla and Priscilla and Peter and Cornelius look at them all and like we did here ask yourself these questions what do I see in the spirit of evangelism how can I what can I glean from these instances where

people are coming to a knowledge of the truth what can I learn from ananas what can I learn from Paul what can I learn from Aquilla and Priscilla as they dealt with Apollos what can I learn from Peter as he dealt with Cornelius this is us being doers of the word as James said we don’t just read these stories and go oh those are cool no there’s things there for us to glean and to apply in our lives as the royal priesthood and then

Chapter 11: Hospitality and love

lastly being hospitable to the Nations Hospitality brothers and sisters is truly a lost art now I’m going to date myself right here one of my favorite things to do and don’t laugh at me one of my favorite things to do in the morning when I make breakfast I’ll get up and I’ll make breakfast for my wife and I I’m the cook in the house and one of the things I like to do is to sit here with my breakfast and watch Andy Griffith I’m a little embarrassed to share that but I do I grew up watching Andy Griffith Show with Andy and Barney and Opie and and there’s something that um you you watch when you when you watch The Andy Griffith Show you just can’t help but notice Hospitality of people of that day

and age that I think is getting further and further away from us As Americans because we work 8 hours to 10 hours to 12 hours a day and we drive home and pulls directly into our garages and the garage closes behind us and we go directly into our house and eat dinner with our family and go to bed and do it all over again we’ve not allowed our time anymore for for loving the Nations and showing them hospitality and having them into our homes Leviticus says the stranger dwells with you in your land you shall not mistreat him how do we treat the Lost how do we treat our Christian Brothers who argue with us about the law that’s a hard question they shall not be mistreated The Stranger who dwells among you shall be

to you as one born among you and you shall love him as yourself for You Were Strangers in the land of Egypt I am the Lord your God so I wanted to use this passage as the flagship passage of this topic of hospitality to help us understand God’s heart in dealing with being hospitable to in our goal of evangelism the Nations we can’t mistreat them we can’t not love them we have to treat those people that want to argue with us about the law as one of our own Sons and Daughters if we are going to reach them Hospitality in loving the N loving the Nations is evangelism job 31:32 real quickly says but no sojer a stranger that’s Gentile had to Lodge in the street around me I have opened my doors to The

Traveler Hebrews 13 don’t forget to entertain strangers because by doing so some of unwittingly entertained angels that poor guy on the street that’s asking you for money and you think in your mind he’s just going to buy beer with it he’s just going to buy drugs with it that could have been an angel first Peter 4 be hospitable to one another without grumbling there’s the challenge sometimes we can be hospitable but also Grumble at the same time I had this brother over for dinner and I just wanted him to be here for a couple of hours the guy won’t leave I’m trying to go to bed I’m grumbling I want I don’t you know how do you get this guy out of here we’re being hospitable but we’re doing it while grumbling and Peter’s saying

no no no no you have to treat them as if they’re your son and your daughter and love them that way that’s that gets people’s attention brothers and sisters and I know you know this I don’t have to tell you this when you when you feel loved by somebody that makes a that makes an impact that makes them want to listen to what you have to say when you just love them unconditionally and you don’t mistreat them because they don’t see things the way you do in the Bible and by the way

Chapter 12: Closing thoughts

our next Gathering is going to be on a topic called Torah terrorists this has been on my heart a lot because I think that there’s division in the body because so many of us have not embraced what it means to be a royal priest of the king and we bicker and we argue and we fight over whether or not someone wears seat seat or not or whether or not someone’s on a different calendar than you and we allow ourselves to be divided because we’re not loving them and hospitality is one of the Great methods of evangelism if you want to reach out to someone show them your love have them into your home serve them as if you were serving Yeshua as if they were born into your family people just don’t see this kind

of love and hospitalities these days and I promise you it will make an impact if nothing else it will plant a seed Scarlet you want to share something I’m going to tie something into your what you’re saying here that was based off of a a fantastic message that you did a while back I don’t remember the exact title of it but it basically was there is no such thing as a personal relationship with Jesus Christ yep yep I taught that okay and um this is all the churches talk about it’s your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and then you read the scripture there’s so many things that are installed from churchianity in our minds that are completely unscriptural and so we have to basically come to that term where we have been taught lies was

that in Jeremiah yeah we’ve been taught nothing but lies worthless and thing yes yes we have to get back to what did yahusha teach and like in his day he is coming up against a society that had been overrun with a religious dominance based on a talmudic uh take of scripture that was was not the Torah at all and so the people are oppressed but they don’t know the truth yeah and and the the confusion between oral law and the actual Torah is the exact same confusion today that we deal with with our Christian friends yeah our when we woke up and came out of that system we I think all of us would say that we understand salvation in a very different way now than we did when we were in Christianity so when

we think about this being sent forth when the Great Commission was given it was given to people who had firsthand accounts they had firsthand Witnesses of the things that had transpired I don’t know if now that we’re on the other side of this thing we’re in a a different way of looking at the scriptures we’re going back to the original what does that look like in our day how how do we do we actually need to go out and spread this message like the Great Commission or is it that the father is waking people up I think it’s both I think it’s I think both of those things are um are happening at the same time there are people coming so what does it look like evangelistically now you know on this side of things

well I think I think we discussed that a little bit on in previous lessons when people are coming out of the churches whether by choice or being cast out of the churches they’re all looking for something they’re are looking for answers and we have to be the ones ready to provide those uh as we find them and trust that God’s going to lead us to those people like we were all LED somewhere somehow it’s just a process that we have to uh trust I need to move along here because we’re running long next time we meet we’re going to be looking at Torah terrorist I say next time we meet because in these next couple of weeks I have to go out of town going to Oklahoma next week I’m going to Los Angeles the

week after that and I will not be able to teach so the next time we come together I will be talking on Torah Terrace um one thing I might do in the interim while I’m gone a lot of people have been asking on a lesson about um the Nephilim and I’ve got a pretty inth in-depth lesson on that on a channel that I may download and just post to this channel so you guys can watch that in the interim but uh that’s what’s coming up I wanted to get your brief thoughts uh on the things that we looked at today if you have any thoughts or questions or rebukes or re I am open to them all uh one thing I wanted to ask is I think in the first or the second slide there

was a word which you mentioned that uh the New Covenant replacement something was replaced that is the mediation the mediation of the Levites was changed to what do you call Jesus Christ the one mediator yes but but according to Jeremiah chapter 33 verse 18 I think those verses they say I will never break my Covenant with Levites meaning we cannot even though we are called as uh what do you call the priests uh but we cannot replace the Levites am I correct you are absolutely correct shash now that that brings up a huge bunny rabbit hole that we can chase some other time but I can tell you in a nutshell there is a promise between God and the levitic priesthood that they would remain forever so Yeshua is fulfilling that role of mediation completely

through his blood but what does it mean that the levitical priesthood is forever if they’re gone well the question is that when the New Jerusalem comes back there will be a need for a levitical priesthood during that time uh I talk about this a little bit in um my New Jerusalem video so you can look that up and we can talk about that in more in more detail uh later on but that’s a great point shesh and and am I saying your name correct correctly sures yes yes thank you that’s the correct pronunciation anybody else I was thinking when I heard Scarlett just a minute ago um by the way shabbat shalom and thank you for the invite to this this has been very very very encouraging and knowledgeable for me I use your teachings

a lot in my weekly studies amen um but Scarlet was making the comment about not that that being the Pharisees were teaching talid rather than Torah and when I read that passage with the Ethiopian unic he says well how can I know what I’m reading if I’m not taught it and the first thing that goes back to my mind when he says that is that he’s not being taught Torah he’s being taught the writings of rabbis and that’s why he doesn’t understand what what he’s reading when he’s reading Isaiah that’s possible yeah it’s possible uh let’s see uh JP and LA shabbat shalom shabbat shalom to everybody Hallelujah good morning good morning to you um I I appreciate the message again you know just connecting with the other two that you’ve had and um just

seeing the compassion that we’re to have again um towards our brothers and sisters you know I don’t really like to differentiate between you know Christian and we’re not Christian and all that cuz I feel like that’s where there is divisions um in titles sometimes you know we we create these titles amongst ourselves and then it it does create a rift between our family and friends you know so I just started saying I’m a Believer and you know I’m I’m anointed you know by Messiah like the scripture shows and and then and then to go from there like you said open doors and when that door opens how to have compassion within those conversations so that way we can show whatever whatever the ruach whatever the spirit puts on our heart to show that person like

you expressed in your in your uh study today um being in a coffee shop or or wherever you may be and and being prepared you know to give whatever it is cu I love the I love the portion you showed you know that Phillip was was like prepared and then the soil and I put in the comment like that God prepares that soil for us you know so that way when we come into into that point in time the soil’s prepared we’re prepared and then and we’re doing the work that he leads us to do so um I really appreciate it and I’m looking forward to the the the next one you have uh the Tor Terrace you know I love that I love that title you know I see a lot of that happening

today and um we we have to try to work not to be that as well you know because I think we I feel like we all come into this walk and then you become that you know and so I’m looking forward to that so safe travels on your journey um when you go to Oklahoma and to Los Angeles and yah will be with you and Shalom shabbat shalom to you amen thank you brother uh let’s hear from Robert and then we got to cut it off guys we’re running long today I didn’t think we were going to going to but we are go ahead Robert oh it’s actually it’s actually Amy but um okay so I have a question you know how you were talking about the the 3,000 that died right when the Torah

was given and then you had 3,000 that were brought to life essentially through the Holy Spirit um I just wanted to kind of get your thoughts on because the church Christian Church teaches that the law brought death right to those 3,000 and therefore in essence all the way through that it brings death okay so yes the the direct answer to that question Amy is the law does bring death how does it bring death the law brings death because we it makes us all guilty of it and and and death is the penalty for sin so as soon as you and I violate any letter of the law we die spiritually but that’s the reason God gave it to us he gave us the law not only to instruct us but also to create an environment

in which we would require a savior we we need the law to do two things to teach us to help us to understand his Holiness but also when we break it we need a savior so that’s the simple and the most direct answer to your question uh the point that I was making there about the 3000 is typology if I could train you all to read your Bible through that lens that all these things that have happened in the past are pointing us to things that are happening in the future and it’ll help you understand your Bible a little bit more yes the 3,000 died at the giving of the law at Pentecost but yes 3,000 were baptized at the giving of the spirit at Pentecost after Yeshua and there’s so many things like that

in your Bible you just have to be looking for them okay so is that so is it is the apology what when you use that phrase is that the same as foreshadowing yes okay foreshadowing all means the same thing okay yes guys listen I love you all thank you so much there’s your fireworks hopefully yep they popped up through my thumbs uh have a a blessed Shabbat if you’re celebrating y kapor today have a blessed day of fasting and prayer and I will see you personally in two weeks if you guys want to come together while I’m gone that would be great one of you just has to let me know that you’ll host it and you guys can have some fellowship time and talking shoot me an email or a text and and uh

we’ll figure that out so you guys can have a place to go um during the during my absence guys have a great Shabbat shabbat shalom we’ll see you soon shom shalom shabbat shalom shabbat shalom

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

QUICK ANSWER

The speaker teaches that being Israel means living as part of a royal priesthood: responding to Yahovah with wholehearted devotion, doing His Word, proclaiming His praises, sharing biblical knowledge, and helping others become disciples.
