The Way – A Biblical Identity Restored
ABOUT THIS TEACHING
This teaching examines the biblical identity described throughout Scripture as “the Way” or “the ways of YHWH.” Beginning with Abraham in Genesis 18, it presents the Way not as a modern denominational label but as a covenant manner of life—walking in the Father’s righteous instructions, commandments, justice, and truth. It connects knowing YHWH with knowing and walking in His ways, traces this theme through the Torah, Psalms, Prophets, John the Baptist, Yeshua, and Acts, and presents Yeshua as the living embodiment and perfect revelation of the ancient path. The teaching concludes that biblical faith is more than a religious label or set of beliefs: it is covenant faithfulness expressed through a life of obedience.

Amen. Thank you, David. Okay, guys, as you know, if you are not David and you’re not Glenn number two,
please mute your mic and um we’ll jump into our discussion today uh on the way a biblical identity restored. Uh why am I
doing this lesson? Well, this has been on my heart for some time. Uh, if you read my book, you know that I dove into this
topic a bit. I can’t remember if I had an entire chapter devoted to it or not, but this is something that I quote unquote
discovered. It’s not really a discovery. It’s just something that I came upon in my own study as I was trying to understand
the ways of the Lord.
Uh, I noticed how often this word, these words, this phrase appears in scripture. And I knew it it couldn’t be coincidence.
I’ve had several different people in the last 36 hours, maybe 48 hours, three people to be exact, a ask me about what I
consider myself. Do what do I call myself? Am I a Christian? Do I follow Judaism? What do you what do you call yourself?
And I don’t really call myself anything, but there is something in the scriptures, a a biblical identity of those who follow the
ways of the Lord that has been entirely lost to religion.
And I I really believe in my heart that the father is um bringing it I don’t want to say bringing it back but bringing it to the
forefront of of people’s awareness and uh what it is they’re doing with their faith and and so we that’ll become more clear as
we jump into the lesson. But that’s kind of why I wanted to do this lesson. Now, there’s a se I don’t want to say a second
part to this lesson, but there is going to be a topic that we will probably address next week that will probably get me in a lot
of trouble with a lot of people.
Um, and it’s tied to this. I’m not going to tell you what it’s about yet because I haven’t completely um formulated that in in
my own mind, in my own heart yet. But something that’s also been my heart with regards to today’s uh modern uh
awakening, what’s happening in the hearts of people and what some people in the group are doing with that awakening
has troubled me. That’s all I’m going to say. But that’ll be next week. And then the week after that, we’ll no doubt be talking
about uh Passover as we’re getting close to that as well and the spring feast. So, let’s jump into the way.
In the scriptures, the people of Yahweh are not identified by denominational titles or institutional labels as they are today.
They were known simply as those who walked in the ways of Yhovah. In the time of Abraham, the faithful were described
as those who kept his commandments and walked in his ways. What the Bible presents as a way of life defined by walking
in the ways of Yhovah eventually became overshadowed by institutional identities and the original biblical title of the
community of believers was largely forgotten.
This lesson is not about giving yourself or your group a new name. Nor is it about creating another label to add to the many
that already exist. Rather, it’s about discovering the biblical language that scripture itself uses to describe the people of
Yahw and understanding what it meant for the earliest believers to be identified simply as those who walked in the way.
Now, this is the kind of a lesson you’ve heard me say on many occasions that some of my lessons are directed to us as a
group and some of my lessons are direct more outward to people who might stumble across this video on YouTube,
somebody who might be on the journey at some level or looking to be on the journey.
They’re they’re feeling the calling. They’re experiencing the awakening. This is one of those videos, lessons that you might
keep in your back pocket to share with somebody like that. Uh because it’s going to I hope it’s going to open up their minds
and their hearts to what it is uh the father’s calling them to. But I want to make this clear real quick before we go any further.
what I’m going to show you what the way is is not Judaism and it’s not Christianity.
That’s a mouthful. That’s a big statement right there. Uh I believe with every fiber of my being that Judaism, as you know
because you’re you’ve been taught in this class, is a product of uh Judah’s Babylonian exile and it itself is a deviation from
the ancient paths. How do we know that? Well, just look at Yeshua’s ministry and how often he was rebuking the Pharisees
and the Sadducees for their elevation of human tradition over what is written. Christianity likewise is like Judaism in that
regard. What started off as a pure honest effort to follow Yeshula very quickly went off the rails. And like Judaism has
wandered off the ancient path.
So this is what I’m talking about today is not about either one of those. In case you were wondering upfront, what is the
way? Well, when I did my study in this that I I realized that this phrase, the way of Yhovah or the ways of the Lord as it may
appear in your English translation, its first mention is here in Genesis 18. Uh speaking of Abraham, the father says, “For I
have known him in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of Yhovah
to do righteousness and justice.” Now, we have looked at this verse in great detail in other studies. I’ll link some of them uh
in the video. I’ll show you what they are here in a moment so you can get more teaching on this. But this is the first place in
scripture where we see this phrase, the way of Yhovah or in your English translation, the way of the Lord. And it’s here with
Abraham. And there’s a couple of
foundational things that I want to show you in this verse from this singular singular verse that really sets the uh baseline for
everything that we’re going to see in scripture. The first thing that we see here is this phrase where the father is saying I
have known him. And when you look at that verse and you take out all the fluff in the middle, then what you can see is I
have known him in order that for the purpose of keeping the way of Yhovah.
So this was the father’s intentional knowing, not just an awareness of, but an intentional knowing of Abraham. for the
purpose of him commanding his generations after him to keep the way of Yhovah. So they are connected. Those two, the
knowing and the keeping are connected. If we compress that verse logically, it looks like this. I have known him in order
that he will command and they will keep the way of Yhovah. Uh you you know uh by watching my lessons that I see
equations all the time in scripture. It’s just the way I’m I’m wired. I look at a verse like that and I can’t help but see this kind
of uh linear structure in the sentence of what the father is trying to say. And I think that logical approach is obvious to most
when you actually break it down.
The Hebrew for I have known him yet. I believe that’s correct. David, is that how you say that? Yativ. Yeah, close enough.
Yativ yativ okay I have known him in many context the the root of that word yada means simple knowledge it’s an
awareness like I know you’re there but in covenantal settings it carries a different sense it carries a sense of relational
choosing an intentional recognition a purposeful appointment and when you look at the equation that we looked at in
Genesis 18 that’s what you This is not just the father’s awareness of Abraham’s existence. It was a relational choosing. It
was an intentional recognition. It was a purposeful appointment. So in other words, I have intentionally, purposefully, and
relationally known him for a purpose to command the generations after him to keep the ways of Yhovah.
Now, that’s a very important baseline to our study in this because we’re going to see throughout scripture that that equation
that um what’s the word I’m looking for, Glenn? Number two, not equation, but that formula, maybe that’s a better word.
That formula is going to come up more and more as we go along. And as we discussed a few weeks ago, it’s plainly
obvious that these ways were already known. When you read that, as Moses wrote it, it’s almost obvious that he expects
the reader to know that there is this thing called the ways of the Lord or the ways of Yhovah. He doesn’t stop to explain it.
It’s written in such a way as to lead the reader to know that these things are a thing already. And we discuss that in great
detail in videos like this. Again, I’m going to have the links to these in the description at the end. Uh but there in the bottom
right hand side, Torah before the tablets, we took a long hard look at all the ways of the Lord that existed long before he
gave the instructions to Israel uh at Mount Si. We did a great study called many are called Cal, few are chosen in that same
light of Genesis 18. And of course the video on the awakening this this awareness of these waves that is happening around
us or all over the world. We discuss that also in great detail. So I encourage you if you haven’t already or you want to learn
more about this as we go. Those are the videos that you should be watching. So to recap, the ways are a set of righteous
and just practices
or commands or instructions or teaching that Yahw established for humanity from the very beginning defining how people
are to live, obey, and walk before him. The way singular is the life of obedience to Yahw that he defined from the beginning
and preserved through those he knew and chose to walk in righteousness and justice. In Hebrew thought, faith is a path of
life and not just beliefs. We’ve we’ve discussed that again many times. You can see versions of this way throughout
scripture. In this case, these are ones that we see in the New Testament. The way of righteousness, the way of peace, the
way of salvation.
In a western Greek mentality like us, when we see this phrase, the way of righteousness or the way of peace or the way of
salvation or the ways of the Lord, our minds automatically think of as a direction. This is the way. That’s the way you go for
righteousness. This is the way to peace. That’s the way you go for peace. We understand that word way differently. But
both in Greek and in Hebrew, that word actually doesn’t mean way as in a direction, east, west, north or south.
It means road. It means path. So these are the roads or the paths of righteousness. the roads or the paths of Yhovah, of
peace, of salvation. And it really requires the student of scripture, him or her, who are seeking with all of their heart, soul,
strength, and mind to see this, to discover this, to understand this. And that’s what I hope to do this morning. It’s not
coincidence that early believers came to be known as the way. It was precisely because they followed the ways of Elohim
as noted here in Acts 24. We’re going to look at this verse again later on. This is Paul and he’s saying, “But this I confess to
you that according to the way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are
written in the law and in the prophets.” So what does this tell us?
This amongst several others in the book of Acts is one reference to this entity, this thing called the way. What was the way?
Well, in Paul’s words, the way was a group of people. We know who those group of people were. Those were the people
who were trying to follow Yeshua according to what was written. and not according to human tradition, phariseical or
Sadducees or otherwise. They were devoted to what was in the word and those people because they were following these
ways became known as the way.
This is important if you are on the beginning of your journey. If you are looking into these things to know that there is a huge
chasm between what the Bible calls the ancient path and what you are being told from the pull pit about what it means to
follow Yeshua. There’s a great chasm there. And I hope to show you the value, the benefit of disregarding, if you will, the
simplicity of modern-day evangelicalism that tells you all you have to do is believe in Jesus and you’re fine.
and see that there is a path, there is a way, a road that the father wants you to be on, expects you to be on if you’re truly
following him. So, show me your ways is the first step to coming to the sun. And this is a very important slide. So, I want to
make sure that you bear down, if you will, and pay attention. I I appreciate how many of you are active in the chat, you
know, during our lessons, but this might be one of those times where you don’t chat so much and you pay attention
because it’s important. It’s important for you to be able to convey these things to the people that you’re talking to.
I can’t tell you how often I have so many of you in our group reach out to me and ask the question,”What would you say to
someone who says this? What would you say if they say this or if they ask that?” Which is fine. Those are good questions
to ask. This is one of those times where I’m telling you this is something that you should have, information that you should
have. Exodus 33:13. This is Moses. Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in your sight, show me now your way, that I
may know you and that I may find grace in your sight.
At first glance, that may be a pretty innocuous verse, unless you’re doing a study on the way. And you don’t you may not
know it yet as you read that, but that verse is incredibly important in this discussion. What is the stark implication of these
words? Glenn number two, David, do you have any immediate thoughts when you read that verse? There are requirements
to find grace in his sight. Glenn says there are requirements to find grace in his sight. David, what do you think?
I think that knowing or understanding his ways uh brings us to an understanding of who God is. Yeah. But yes, both of you
are absolutely correct. Let’s look at this. I love the fact that in this verse everything begins with grace. Right? If I have found
grace in your sight. Well, that to leads us to this to Moses asking the father to show me your way. So his grace leads a
person like it led Moses to ask these questions. Show me your way. Which leads to what? Knowing him.
Show me your way that I may know you. So, as David correctly said, can you know him without knowing his way? Well,
there’s going to be a lot of people in the Christian world that will tell you sure that but biblically that that is doesn’t float.
There is absolutely a connection between understanding his way and knowing him. And of course, that leads to more
grace. So, I love that. I love the fact that it’s saddled that verse in his grace and in his mercy.
But here’s another equation. This must happen. You being shown his way must happen. You understanding his way must
happen before this can happen. And that’s key. It’s controversial. There would be a lot of people who might be offended at
that, but I’m sorry. You’re going to see that it’s absolutely the case, not just based on one singular verse, but also based on
a New Testament apostles words. You can’t know him if you don’t understand his ways.
And we understand that on a very basic human level, right? I can’t really know Glenn unless I know what Glenn’s all about.
And as a result of us first [snorts] meeting to each other, we decided we were going to spend every Sunday morning over
coffee and breakfast to know each other. And now I can safely say as he can, I hope, I trust that he knows me because he
knows my ways. He knows the way I think and vice versa. And that’s the whole point of understanding the ways of the Lord
in the mind of Moses. And I believe the direction of the Holy Spirit knowing Yahw could not happen unless his ways were
known. Why? because it’s all about a relationship in the covenant.
It’s covenantal. It’s the foundational structure of [clears throat] one’s kinship with Yahw. You cannot claim to be in the family
of the father unless you know the father and what’s important to him. I’ve said on many, many, many occasions that the law
as we know it today, whether you want to refer to it as the Mosaic law or the law or the Torah or the instructions, regardless
of where they’re found, be it the penetuk or the prophets or the psalms or the new testament, [clears throat] all of those
things that he gave us, that he tells us to do are relational.
They are a reflection of his character and his values. It’s what’s important to him. And so, we can’t claim to be his kin if
those things aren’t important to us. And unfortunately, I think that’s the case for a lot of people in uh the Christian world
especially. So, not being drawn is the reason a person stumbles. I think you know where I’m going here with this. Hosea 14
says, “The ways of Yhovah are right, and the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.” So here in
Hosea, he’s saying that people who don’t understand the way stumble because of them or stumble in them.
And where does that lead us? What what does that remind us of? I’m personally I’m reminded of John 6. The Jews then
complained about him Yeshua because he said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” And they said, “Is this
not Yeshua, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that he says,”I have come down from
heaven?” They were stumbling in the way. They didn’t understand who Yeshua was. So Yeshua therefore answered and
said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves, no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I
will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets and they shall all be taught by God. Therefore, everyone who
was heard and learned from the father comes to me.
We took a d a deep dive in this verse some months ago. I can’t remember the lesson. If you recall, then you know where
I’m going with this verse. There’s some profound truths to be understood here in this verse. But first we have to ask the
question, why did Yeshua respond the way he did to these guys murmuring amongst themselves? Well, he responded that
way because they were not called. They were not being drawn to Yeshua. How do we know that they weren’t being drawn
to Yeshua? Well, I already said it because they stumbled in the way they didn’t understand.
Had they understood the way, had they understood what was written, then these questions about the person of Yeshua
and who he was in being the bread would have not have been an issue. But the fact remains they didn’t. And so because of
that they stumbled in the way. They weren’t being called. They weren’t being drawn to the father. So why did they stumble?
Well, John 6 tells us it’s written in the prophets, and they shall all be taught by God. Therefore, everyone who was heard
and learned from me uh learns from the father comes to me.
Here is the depth of this verse and a light that went on for me so many years ago as I was trying to understand my own
journey. And I hope this light goes on for you as well, turns on for you as well. Yeshua says, “Everyone who has heard and
learned from the father comes to me.” Well, my question then that I’m asking you now is where does one hear and learn
from the father? Well, he tells us it’s written in the prophets. It’s in the Hebrew scriptures. It’s in the Torah.
That’s where you hear and learn from the father. But guess what evangelicalism has done? Evangelicalism has told you to
disregard the prophets, to disregard the Torah. Those books, that Old Testament, the Hebrew scriptures is not authoritative
in your life. So because that’s what they’ve been told, they’ve not read it. They’ve not studied it. But what are the
ramifications of that according to Yeshua’s own words? You can’t truly come to him unless you understand what the father
has to say. And we see what the father has to say in the first twothirds of the book. And when we read those, what do we
discover? What do we discover in the prophets, in the Hebrew scriptures?
The way. That’s what we discover. We discover what these ways are that seem to be so important to the father that he
would command o Abraham to teach them to his generations. That’s where we discover the way. And hopefully we are
asking the father likewise like Moses to show me your way. Therefore, knowing him and I want you to see this. I want you
to see that if you’re on this journey, if you’re beginning this journey, if you’re trying to figure these things out, and I know that
some in this very group that are here right now this morning with us on Zoom are at the beginning of your journey, and
you’re wrestling with this idea of somehow incorporating what has become known as the Old Testament into your daily faith
walk.
And it’s it’s foreign to you. It’s weird to you because all you’ve been taught is the Gospels, is the New Testament. And yet
when you realize that you can’t truly come to Yeshua unless the father draws you and the father draws you because of
what he has taught you from the prophets and from then you realize the importance. I’ve got to go back. I need to go back
and understand better everything that I think I know. And let me just share a personal thought. And Glenn and David, if you
want to share a personal thought on this as well, just a little testimony.
When I first sat down and decided that I was going to embrace the totality of scripture in my heart, I knew I was going to do
that. And I started looking into the Hebrew scriptures in a very deep way. It’s it’s I I don’t have the proper words. I can’t
properly articulate what it was like for me to do that. Because as I was doing that, everything that I knew in the New
Testament all of a sudden became clear in ways that I wasn’t expecting. I thought the teachings of the New Testament
stood on their own, stood alone. They didn’t need anything to back it up. I was wrong.
Everything in the British, the New Testament is built on top of the Torah and the Old Testament. And you can’t truly
understand the things in the New Testament unless you understand the Old. And when I started studying the Old, holy
cow, you want to talk about an awakening where things all of a sudden began to fall into place. And that’s what I want for
you. That’s what I want for anyone who’s searching these things out. Uh Glenn, David, any thoughts on that?
Yeah, I have I have a lot of thoughts on that. Um it reminds me of of Psalms 111:10. The fear of Yhovah is the beginning of
wisdom and a good understanding of all they that do his commandments. And so at the very beginning we start trying to
keep the Sabbath. Then we then we start adding clean and unclean meats. And the more that we obey, the more that we
apply to our lives without uh you know you know without watering it down. the the more strict we become with keeping
God’s way, then the more he opens up our mind to understand more and more.
Hence the number of times in scripture that he says be careful to observe. You know, that’s that’s a that’s there for a
reason. What about you, David? I think I come you know from a different background having grown up well and I don’t want
to haven’t grown up in the way I’ve grew up in awareness of the way I grew up in a culture that you know follows to various
different extents uh the way having grown up a large part of my life in you know earlier in my life in Israel and so you do see
different people that are following it to different degrees. Um and then uh coming here and being exposed to you know
evangelical Christianity uh to some extent uh through the encouragement of you know the preachers and the teachers in
the church kind of set all that aside and now was uh allowing myself to be led down that path that they were leading me and
I think that that the and it’s only later on a
lot to your credit Ed uh that you know uh and my wife Christine that we that I started going back and and truly
understanding the foundation as you said Ed that is the Hebrew scriptures on which everything uh later on is built. So I
guess the the point that I’m trying to make here is at the end of the day we need to remember that it’s a personal
responsibility that we have right to pray to God to open our eyes and then to go and to seek him ourselves uh be the
Berean be the one who’s who’s humble and is curious and desires to ultimately plead God please God and not necessarily
to follow in the ways of uh the people that you know the church or or the leaders the current leaders.
Amen. Thanks guys for for sharing that. I appreciate that. So is Ed doss here building a case on one singular verse from
Exodus? No, I’m not. I want you to compare Exodus 33:13 to this verse. Exodus 133:13. Moses says, “Show me your way
that I may know you.” 1 John 2 says, “By this we know that we know him if we keep his commandments, his ways.” 1 John
2:4, “He who says, “I know him,” and does not keep his commandments, his ways, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
I’d like for you to stop for a moment, viewer, and maybe for the very first time, consider the weight of 1 John 2:4 and 1 John
2:3, those two verses. Because how many people in your world, whoever you are, Christian, Baptist, Catholic, whatever
you are, I don’t care what flavor you are, how many people in your world, including yourself, would say, “I know him.” But
you also don’t keep his commandments. You don’t observe Shabbat on the day Shabbat is, the holy day of the Lord.
You don’t eat clean. You’re not concerned about the festivals. You’re not concerned with much in the Old Testament.
Consider the weight of these two verses. Who are they written by? They’re written by an apostle, a Holy Spirit inspired
author. And this particular apostle just happens to be the one that was closest to Yeshua. And he says, “If you say I know
him, but you don’t keep his ways, you’re a liar and the truth is not in you.” That’s a that’s a huge pill to swallow.
Because we all want to think the truth is in us. We all want to think that the little church that we go to on the corner is truth.
That’s what we all That’s the great deception. Unless you sit and you compare your life, your convictions to these two
verses. He says in 1 John 2, by this we know, not we guess, not we might be. By this we know absolutely that we know him
if we keep his commandments commonly known as the ways of the Lord or the ways of Yhovah in scripture. John 17 in his
gospel and this is eternal life that they may know you the only true God Jesus Christ whom you have sent. This is the lost
biblical identity. The way, the ways of the Lord. Yes.
I just wanted to put add another comment. Are you going to I don’t want to steal your thunder. Are you going to mention
Jeremiah 31 34 about putting the law in our hearts? I no I don’t think I am but please please feel free. Okay. So, back to the
scripture about knowing God, you know, in in the the prophecy of the new covenant in Jeremiah 31 that later on obviously
is is referenced again uh in Hebrews. Uh and many of you familiar with it, so I won’t read the whole thing. Um but I’ll start in
Jeremiah 31:33. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will put
my law in their minds and write it on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No more shall every
man teach his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, “Know the Lord, for they shall know me. From the least of them
to the
greatest of them, says the Lord, for I will forgive their iniquity and their sin. I will remember no more.” The the key here is
that connection between putting his laws on our hearts and as a result of that gaining a true understanding and knowing
who God is and making that connection between the law, his instructions and knowing God. And that is part of this new
covenant that you know as you say uh the Christians believe that they’re a part of it but they don’t understand the
connection there that knowing God is truly connected to the fact that the law is on our hearts right his law his instruction.
Amen. Thank you brother. Appreciate that. So within the pages of scripture, the people of Yahw were not originally
identified by denominational titles or institutional labels. As we discussed in the opening thoughts, they were identified by a
manner of life. The consistent biblical description of this life was called the way or the ways of Yhovah. From the earliest
narratives of Genesis, Yah spoke of teaching his people to keep his way and to walk in those ways before him. So I wanted
to do was just kind of look at some of these verses.
2 Samuel 22, I have kept the ways of Yhovah and have not wickedly departed from my God. Notice in that verse the
juosition of the two statements, wickedly departing from God is the same as not keeping the ways of Yhovah. Right? I see
equation there. Psalm 25:4, “Show me your ways, oh Yhovah. Teach me your paths.” That’s Hebraic poetry. That’s saying
the same thing twice in two different ways. Show me your ways. Teach me your paths. They’re the same thing. And that’s
the heart that we need to have as we’re beginning this journey.
What else? Psalm 25. good and upright as Yhovah. Therefore, he teaches sinners in the way. That’s awesome. What does
that tell us about the heart of the father? He wants people to know his ways. Again, verse 9, the humble he guides in justice
and the humble he teaches his way. Judges 2, so that through them I may test Israel whether they will keep the ways of
Yhovah, to walk in them as their fathers kept them or not. Huge verse. Not only are the ways there for us to follow and for
us to embrace, the father is going to test you to see whether or not you will keep the ways. What does that testing look like?
I don’t know. I’m I’m sure you could all probably share stories of how you felt like you were tested in certain ways. And you
had two options, to obey or not to obey. And that’s the case for all of us all the time. But we’re going to be tested to see
whether or not we will keep his ways or not. to walk in them or not. First Kings 3. So if you walk in my ways condition if to
keep my statutes and my commandments and your as your father David walked then I will lengthen your days. So that’s
awesome.
You know lengthen our days if you walk in my ways. There’s there’s obviously um a desire on the part of the father to cause
this person who was he talking to Solomon to walk in my ways. I think that was Solomon. First Kings 3. Verify that or not.
Deuteronomy 28. Yehovah will establish you as a holy people to himself just as he has sworn to you if you keep the
commandments of Yhovah your God and walk in his ways. Those are synonymous. Keeping the commandments of Yah
and walking in his ways are the same thing.
And here’s a question for you viewer. Do you think that walking in his ways is different in the new covenant than they are in
the old? I know that that’s a popular doctrine out there that somehow God flip-flopped and he changed his mind on a lot of
things, but he didn’t. He won’t. He never changes according to Malachi and many other books, prophets and writers. He
wants us to keep the commandments and walk in his ways. Isaiah 2, many people shall come. And here’s a great little
verse. This is future tense. This is this is after Yeshua returns.
Many people shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yhovah, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will
teach us his ways and we shall walk in his paths. That’s going to happen in the future. [clears throat] How awesome is that?
I look forward to this day when the father himself will be teaching the nations his ways. And guess where those ways are
found? In the Old Testament. And we will walk in his paths. In other words, we’re going to do what he teaches us.
It’s going to happen then. It happened in the days of the Old Testament that for some reason you’re stuck in a world in a
Christian world that doesn’t think we should be doing them now. And you have to wrestle with that. Psalm 62. Yahw be
merciful to us and bless us and cause his face to shine upon us. SA that your way may be known on earth, your salvation
among the nations. So again, this is this is uh indicative of the father’s heart and that he wants the way to be known on
earth and not just for a single person.
Well, we know that John prepares the way, right? Considering all that we’ve looked at so far in reference to the way, what
does it mean that John will prepare the way? Glenn, number two, do you have a possible answer to that question? What
does it mean that John will prepare the way? Well, I mean, he he’s talking about the work of Elijah to, you know, lay the
foundation. Okay? You know, here here’s what’s coming. Okay. David, what about you? Do you have any any two cents on
that?
What does it mean for John to prepare the way? Actually, I don’t know. Just a thought that comes to mind. Either prepare
the way um maybe prepare people’s hearts with for the arrival of you know the way or Yeah. And how’s he do that? He
calls them to repentance. Right. We see the prophecy in Isaiah 40. The voice of the one crying in the wilderness, prepare
the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Matthew 3, we see in the day, in those days, John
the Baptist came preaching. He is the fulfillment of this prophecy. Uh preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah saying the voice of one crying in the wilderness prepare the way of
the Lord make his paths straight. So John prepares the way how John prepares the way by arriving first to call people to
repent. What is the meaning of the word repent? It basically means to return to the covenant. What are the vows of the
covenant? Obeying the ways of the Lord. So here is John preparing the way by calling people back to the way.
way path equals as we’ve already seen his ways, his commandments, his instructions that we follow and we obey. If we
walk off that path, if we walk off that way, then we have to shove, we have to repent, we have to come back to that path.
Preparing the way was calling people back to the way, calling for repentance, a return to covenant, a return to obey him
and not human tradition. Right? Why is this important? Where were we in human history when John showed up?
We were in Jerusalem after 500 years of Judaism. And in Judaism, as we all know, is full of man-made tradition. And John
came calling them out of it. His call was an effort to sanctify those whom Yeshua would call. Luke 1. He will turn many of
the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before him in the spirit of Elijah to make ready a people prepared
for the Lord. Now think about this. I don’t have this in my notes, but think of the parallels.
When you see to make ready a people prepared for the Lord, what do you think of? I think about the parables. I think about
the 10 virgins. Some were ready. Some were not. I think about the awakening that’s happening now. The awakening that’s
happening now could you could argue is the very same thing that Luke was talking about here in chapter 1. People’s hearts
are turning to the ways of the Lord all around the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. Why?
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. And what are they turning to? The ways. So the question is, what way was
John calling people back to? A new way, a different way. No, the same ways mentioned throughout the Hebrew scriptures,
he was calling them back. And in calling them back, they are being made ready to be a people prepared for the Lord for his
return. This awakening that’s happening is the same thing that John was doing. [clears throat] He was trying to prepare the
people for the arrival of Yeshua.
this awakening that we’re seeing where people are on their own, and I use that phrase lightly because it’s not really on their
own. It’s all the work of the Holy Spirit, but on their own, on their own discovering the Old Testament, realizing for the first
time, holy cow, I’ve missed this. I’ve got to go back and obey these things. My wife just said it cost John his life, and that’s
true. It’s going to cost some of us our lives as well. But my point is we are also being prepared for the arrival of Yeshua.
Well, John prepared the way. Yeshua is the way. These things are all tied together on purpose. John 14:6 Yeshua said to
him, “I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” And now, how many times have we
read that in the course of our life and thought, “Well, he’s just saying, “I’m the door. I’m the gate.” That’s not what this is.
Yes, he is the door. Yes, he is the gate. But that’s not the same here as John 14:6 when he says, “I am the way.”
He is the way. He is the word made flesh. When Yeshua says, “I am the way,” he’s not merely giving directions. And these
words aren’t simply another way of saying that he’s the door, the gate. No, he’s identifying himself as the living embodiment
and fulfillment of the ways of Yah that have been revealed throughout the scriptures. He is revealing himself as the person
through whom that ancient path, that ancient path, that ancient way is perfectly revealed and made accessible.
He walked the ways of the father without deviation, embodying in his life the righteousness, obedience, and truth that the
scriptures had always described. In him, the path is no longer merely written instruction, but a living example. And I want to
ask you, as many times as you have read that verse, as many times as you have quoted that verse, have you ever
wondered what they mean? Have you ever stopped and actually pondered what is Yeshua saying here when he’s saying,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He didn’t just come up with these words because they sounded spiritual.
The words way, truth, life are nearly used synonymously throughout the Hebrew scripture. And his Jewish hearers knew
what this meant. The phrase the way was not new to them. And so when they heard Yeshua declare, “I am the way,” it
meant something. Let’s look at how these things are almost synonymous in scripture. Psalm 86, teach me your way, ova, I
will walk in your truth. There we see way and truth in the same sentence. And Yeshua is saying, I am the way. I am the
truth. Psalm 16, you will show me the path, the way of life. In your presence is full is fullness of joy. There in that verse, we
can see the connection between the way and life.
Proverbs 12, in the way of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death. Again, the connection to the way, the
truth, and the life. Psalm 119, I have chosen the way of truth. Your judgments I have laid before me. Again, poetry. The
way of truth and his judgments are the same. But this is also the truth that Yeshua declares he is in John 14. Psalm 25,
show me your ways, oh Yahovah. Teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my
salvation.
This doesn’t change under the new covenant. This is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. his ways, his truth, his
path, his life. I am the way, the truth, and the life, says Yeshua. I hope you can see this. I hope it’s ringing a bell. And then
finally, the way was who they were, and the way is who we are. We see throughout the book of Acts a mention of the way.
Acts nine and Saul, this is before he had his conversion moment, Christ, still breathing threats and murder against the
disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found
any who were of the way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Paul wanted to kill members
of the way. Those who were following the way. Acts 19.
But some who were hardened did not believe and spoke evil of the way before the multitude. He departed from them and
withdrew his disciples. So the disciples reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. So here people were speaking evil of the
way. Why were they speaking evil of the way? but because they weren’t part of the program. They weren’t part of Judaism.
They were they were they were obeying what the Bible actually said, what Yeshua actually said. Acts 19. And about that
time, there arose a great commotion about the way. Yeah. I guess when you live according to what the scriptures actually
say, you cause commotion in your families, in your churches, in your circles of friends.
Commotions will arise. Acts 22, Paul again, I persecuted this way to the death, binding and delivering in the prisons both
men and women. This was postcon conversion. Paul, recalling the fact that he used to persecute and kill members of the
way. Acts 24. But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the way, he adjourned the
proceedings and said, “When Lissus and the commander comes down, I’ll make a decision in your case.” And then finally,
Acts 24:14, we already looked at this verse. This is Paul who once was a murderer of those in the way. now saying this I
confess to you that according to the way which they call a sect so I worship the God of my fathers believing all things which
are written in the law and the prophets.
So we can see it even in the New Testament this bleed over of the ways of the Lord defining those who are truly following
the father who are truly following the son the way. And the answer to my very first question as we started this morning what
do you call yourself? Ah well here’s what I tell people if you want me to identify myself. I am a member of that ancient sect
that they once called the way. And just like Paul, I believe all things that are written in the law and the prophets and the
British, the New Testament. So, let’s finish.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Across the world today, there are thousands of religious labels, denominations,
movements, each claiming identity and authority. Yet, when we return to the text of scripture itself, the earliest followers of
Christ were not known by any of these titles. They were known simply as the way. Today, we trace that designation from its
roots in the Torah, the prophets, through its clear appearance in Acts, demonstrating that the way is not a later invention,
but the consistent biblical description of walking in covenant faithfulness before the [clears throat] Lord. It’s not a
movement.
You may have watched videos of certain detractors calling this a Torah movement. And I’ve seen it several times. It’s not a
movement. Movements die. It’s a Holy Spirit inspired return to the ancient path. Some are doing it right. Some are doing it
wrong. And the wrong is what I want to get into next week a little bit. Little little teaser there for you. Many in media
platforms like YouTube like to call the global awakening of hearts and minds a movement. No. Some say a move in a man.
No. There’s no one man behind this. It’s happening all around the world.
Historically, movements like these always come to an end. I I was a member for a long time of a movement that died. I can
speak to it. David can speak to it. Glenn can speak to it. Tim can speak to it. Sasha can speak to it. The way in scripture is
not presented as a new spiritual movement, revival, wave, or sectarian innovation, but as the ancient established path of
covenant faithfulness that you ought to find from the beginning that the earliest disciples simply continued to walk in full
obedience to the law and the prophets. The way it’s just the way, his ways, the ways of the Lord. And there we are.
Thank you for being with me and for sitting there so quietly. I know that you have thoughts, questions, rebuttals, rebukes. If
you think I’m wrong, I’m always open to them all. But uh thank you Sasha for your clapping hands. [laughter] That’s uh
that’s nice. Thoughts? Let’s open up the table for you guys. What are you thinking? What are you feeling? What are you
disagreeing with me on? Anything at all? Glenn wants to go first. Yeah. Okay. I’m going to turn this so you can see. Glenn,
I’m I’m just going first so that um everybody has some time to gather their thoughts together. But uh I want to read Hebrews
1 because I think it really is is spot on with what Ed covered today.
But Hebrews 1 verse one, I’m going to go one through three said, “God who at various times and in various ways spoke in
times past to the fathers by the prophets has in these last days spoken to us by his son whom he has appointed heir of all
things through whom also he made the worlds. who being the brightness of his glory in the express image of his person
and upholding all things by the word of his power when he had did I skip some his person and upholding all things by the
word of his power when he had by himself purged our sins and sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high and you
can read further and further But uh it just you know verification of everything that uh Ed was covering today.
Amen. Thank you, brother. Thank you, Glenn. Number two. Okay, let’s see who else has their hand up. Looks like brother
Richard does. Go for it, Richard. Shabbat shalom. um in this teaching. I I think that it would u I would be interested in
hearing a response or a u um some sort of speaking to dispensationalism and the correlation with people who seem to
have replaced the father with the son as far as importance and how that kind of ties into you know deviating away from the
way.
Is that a question or a suggestion? It’s a question. What what would your response or admonition be toward to that kind of
thought process as we you know obviously this teaching is like you said to put in our back pocket to have those
conversations. And so I’m thinking, you know, if there is an inclusion uh from you or some of the people in in the in the
Mishbaga that um kind of addresses this this topic of dispensationalism and the replacement of the father with the son and
elevating the son to the level of or above, you know, the the old god mean god of the old testament, so to speak.
May I? Oh gosh. Uh I’m sorry. Was that Scott? Scott, do you have a thought? Yeah. To to his question, uh, a good question
to ask them on that is essentially what they have done. They don’t realize that. But what dispensationalism has is teaching
is that because Jesus Yeshua would never beat up his bride. That all dispensationalists are going to pretty much believe in
a rapture that Jesus is going to marry the church. And now again, they believe in the trinity and and that the father and son
are one. And yet they only have the second person, son, God, marrying the church, and then the father god beats the snot
out of the Jews and enters into covenant with him.
It turns God into a bigamist with two different wives. It does. And that is a way to maybe get them to think about what
they’ve been taught in this entire system, which is to your point in your question, it’s temporary replacement theology. It is
permanent separation theology. Two different houses. In other words, Ed Ed uh understands about the distinctions
between Judah and Israel. And it’s called two house. But really what Ed, you’re teaching the way it’s a single house. It’s a
sing, you know, single husband, single bride, single ecclesia.
Dispensationalism actually is permanent separation and earthly Israel and a heavenly church. And so those are just some
talking points uh for him cuz I I I was born and raised and bred up in dispensationalism. So dispensationalis
dispensationalists run from me now because I can teach it better than their teachers. So, but but well, I couldn’t agree more
with uh with Scott on that. Um there’s a lot of different angles that you can come to uh with this. Um in my experience, and
this is just me, dispensationalists, they exist primarily because they fail to understand their Old Testament.
When you when you fail to have a deep understanding of your Old Testament, then you almost naturally arrive at
dispensational points of view or supersessionist points of view. That’s just where you go because you’ve disregarded
everything the Old Testament has to say. Richard, you know as well as I do that the the the son and the father are one as
he says, right? So, they can’t be two separate beings. They can’t be two separate plans. And Jesus is not going to say
anything that supersedes the father. It’s just logical. But I hope those thoughts were beneficial. Uh David and Christine.
Yeah. I just wanted to just express how grateful um I am for just the patience of Yeshua because God and in God and in
because in this process of knowing him you know I we all start with knowing something of him and just the patience that he
shows um as we grow in our knowledge of him uh to when we get because as much as we know now it’s not everything
right? We’re still in this process of knowing. And so I’m very I’m grateful for that. And I’m I’m prayerful for the the men and
the women, you know, that as we’ve all, you know, we’ve all most of us have come out of um certain churches, certain
movements. Um and I think about those people every day. Um and just pray that they come to um a deeper knowing, you
know, of of God and of Yeshua. I I plan Ed and I you know obviously we get to talk all the time. Uh this is probably for me
the top three lessons. I mean I love everything that that we’ve done and that you do but this is one of the top three. And I
think honestly because it’s so plain and it’s just so easy and so clear and so simple. it’s going to be so difficult for someone
to listen to this message to look at these scriptures and refute anything. And so for that reason, I have already posted it on
Facebook, on Instagram. I’ve sent it to several um people around the world that, you know, call themselves um believers of
of of God and disciples of Jesus who who don’t know him in this way yet. And um I plan to send it to the very people that
excommunicated us from their role and in the hopes not of out of division or getting the last word but just out of love
because it’s uh it’s a privilege to be able to feel like we are growing in our knowing of him. And uh I’m just I’m excited about
this lesson and thank you for putting it together and thank you so much just for um you know being used in such a great
and powerful way. You know how proud I am of you. I love you.
Amen. Just to just to on to that and to the point that you made Ed about John the Baptist’s role in preparing for the way. Um
I think that we may need to look at ourselves also as preparers of the ways for those other people that we know right
around us and to help them and to you know bring this to their attention and prepare their hearts so they can truly accept
this. Right? So we have a a role in that as well and and you know examples of what Christine uh uh shared right now are
ways that we can prepare the way for others so that they can be prepared to receive you know God’s ways and God’s
word.
Amen. Thank you both guys uh as always. Okay, brother Landis has his hand up. Shabbat shalom everyone. Um, you
know, I great teaching, just fantastic teaching. And, you know, all it does is, you know, not that I needed any more proof,
but like we’re supposed to test all things, right? And it’s it’s it’s right there. I mean, I’ve tried numerous times to go against
this the way, and it’s you can’t. You just can’t. And um you know my parents and my sister um they I’m going to share this
with them.
And I just pray that uh something you know will well because this is it’s clear. It’s not just in the Old Testament. It’s in the
New Testament. There it is. So Ed, thank you so much. Uh this is a wonderful teaching. Um I think we’re all blessed by uh
what this brought uh not only for us personally but what we’ll be able to share with others. So thank you. Amen, brother.
Thank you, Luke. Okay, I don’t see any more hands up. Let’s let’s maybe we have some time, so I I would love to have
some introductions here for some of you first- timers. We already heard from Scott. I think he’s visited us before in the past.
He’s blessed us with his presence once or twice before. So, he’s not that new. But some of you, some of the rest of you are
new. If you’re new here, turn your your camera on. We don’t care if you have bed head. We want to see your face and just
tell us who you are and where you’re from. Come on.
No. You don’t want me to call you out, do you? That might not be fun. Anybody? I’m not going to call you out. I’m just gonna
let you do it organically. But you have to turn your mics on. Come on. Uh, go ahead. Damon, I think you want to say
something. Yeah. So, I am uh my name is Damian Garcia. I am from Los Angeles, California. Um I took kind of I’d say a
couple years ago came into Christianity or churchianity and um had an uncle that’s been in for like he was studying as a 7th
day Adventist for years and he kind of challenged some of my thoughts and then that kind of led me to read more and
challenge some of the things that I started to see within uh you know what I what I would say churchianity.
And um it kind of led me to YouTube and I started watching a a bunch of different uh channels and trying to get more of the
the way that I was going into um as far as studying about the Lord and and I started seeing like hey you know we we are
supposed to keep you know God’s laws and his commandments and and uh and this led me to finding the ancient path and
I was just going down the rabbit hole. I watch like at least 30 videos and I’m like, “Wow, this is this is resonating with, you
know, what I’m what I’m what I’ve been studying with so far.” And uh and then I reached out to Ed in the email and say,
“Hey, you know, I’m I’m pretty much falling in love with everything that’s going on, you know, with with the studies.” And it’s
hard for me to find a a home over here because everybody’s pretty much teaching, you know, dispensationalism and
replacement theology and all that.
And it’s I it’s it’s hard sometimes to sit down in the church when you know there’s so many inconsistencies um going on. So
uh yeah, that’s that’s pretty much it in a nutshell. Well, man, we sure are happy to have you. Really really am. And uh be be
more vocal in the future. We want to hear your voice, your thoughts. Um you know, whatever you want to share. Let’s see.
Tim, I see that you want to share and I want to hear from you. Any newbies first that want to go before Tim because Tim’s
old hat. He’s been here for a while. Any any brand newbies that want to share something or introduce yourself?
Hey Ed, I just wanted to say to Damian that I’m in LA also. That’s and I’d love to love to fellowship. Oh, that’s Tim. That’s all
I wanted to say. No, no, Tim. Where are you in LA? What’s what city? Well, I’m in North LA, but you know, I’m in uh like the
Valley Thousand Oaks, but that’s about 30 minutes or so from LA. Damian, are you close to that? I’m about uh I’m about an
hour away. I um I live in West Coina, but I do travel to Thousand Oaks. My son plays basketball and he uh they uh I want to
say once a month they uh they play out Thousand Oaks. So, yeah. I mean, definitely it would it would it would be uh cool to
to fellowship. I don’t know if I could probably send you a private number and put my private message and put my number in
there and you know, maybe we could connect.
Yeah, I’ll put I’ll put it in the chat. My number. Thank you. Yeah, let’s do this before we leave. Especially if you’re new, but
go to chat and just type in your city. It’s all you got to do. If you type in your city and you’re scrolling and you go, “Oh, holy
cow, if that person’s in my city,” then reach out to him or her and see if you guys can fellowship somehow some way. Um,
that’s what we’re here for, guys. I mean, I love Zoom. This is awesome. But my heart, if I could get you guys together
somehow in your cities, that would be amazing. Matter of fact, it speaks to my lesson next next week. Um, [clears throat]
but I know I know Sasha.
I know why you’re laughing because you’re over there in the part of the world that nobody’s at. I get it. I I understand. You
know that’s going to happen. Just be patient. They’re coming. Um, okay. Anybody else? Otherwise, we’ll call it. Okay, guys.
As always, thank you so much for coming this morning and being with us at this time. Hey, really quick. I’m so sorry. Sasha.
Yes. Um, if you can hear us, um, David and I are going to be up in your part of the world in the next few weeks. We would
love to connect.
Where will you be? Oh, we’re just traveling. We’re gonna be connect. Yes, we’ll be up in the in that Scandinavia. Yeah.
Okay. Absolutely. We’ll get in touch. Good to see you guys. Yeah. Yeah, you too. Yeah. So Sasha, you’re Finland, right? I
think that’s where you’re at. Or Yes, we’re in the middle of Finland. So yes. So he’s up there in the cold tundra. So if you
guys ever happen to be passing by Finland, let’s stop and see. Yes, guys. Thanks for coming. I love you all.
Thanks for being with me today on Shabbat. I hope you have a fantastic day, a fantastic weekend, and we’ll be be back
next week to talk about a super secret lesson that’s going to get me in lots of trouble. Okay. Love you guys. Shalom.
Shalom. Thank you so much. Great teaching. You’ve always been everybody. [laughter] Shabbat shalom. Shabbat shalom.
Shabbat shalom. Shabbat shalom. Thank you, Ed.
